SAP Best Practices is Based on the SAP enhancement package 5

Installation of New Functionality Separated From Activation via Switch Framework

PreambleSAP enhancement packages are shipped as a delta shipment to SAP ERP 6.0

Selective InstallationEach SAP enhancement package contains new versions of existing software components

You only update software components that are related to the functionality you want to use.

After installation: No UI or process change until a business function is activated No implications on the underlying NetWeaver platform. However, SAP enhancement

packages require defined ERP support package stack

Selective ActivationNew functionality must be explicitly switched on to become active in the system.

If activated: Changes are predictable. Only well-described changes in the activated areas Testing is simplified with templates, provided for every business functionMandatory

Existing scenario enhancements -I

Outbound Logistics (923) Enhancement of pricing procedure to capture actual freight costs

Recover actual freight costs from customer

Replacement scenarios for Repetitive Manufacturing with co-products and QM (906) (existingV1.603 release)

Repetitive Manufacturing with QM (992) and

Process Order with Co-Product and QM (993)

Reason: SAP functionality does not support cost apportionment

of co-products in the product cost collector

Current design:

Process order can better handle co-products cost allocations based on equivalence numbers

Repetitive manufacturing reflects Manufacturing with By-Products

(New) QM inspection characteristic values reflect in Batch

classification view

Existing scenario enhancements -II

Splitting of Subcontracting (External and Internal) (918) scenario Subcontracting (External) (918)

Subcontracting (Internal) (973)

Reason

Expose the two functionalities in separate scenarios with

enhancements

Current design

Subcontracting (External) scenario is enhanced

External subcontracting in procurement and external

subcontracting in Process order

In-time consumption posting to vendor’s stock. (EhP5

enhancement)

Objectives of the new development Strengthen ERP-based Manufacturing capabilities for customers requiring only a light-

MES (Manufacturing Execution System)

Increased visibility and traceability of work-in-process through ability to put WIP on stock, send WIP to subcontractors and describe individual items in WIP by characteristics

Detailed tracking of material flow through production order from component to finished product on level of individual item enable more precise recalls

Capture & collect product characteristics throughout production

Functional enhancements WIP batches to model WIP on operation level, integrated into batch information cockpit,

batch where used list, order information system Inventory managed WIP-batches allow goods receipt and goods issue of intermediate

products on batch level Integration to production order split (split based on WIP-batches)
