What are the steps leading to marriage?• In high class families, the parents

choose the wife when the child is born. Family members can also decided during childhood if the child can marry, or a man and woman choose each other.

• If family has found a woman, the steps in courtship start.

• A family friend from the man’s side visits the female and gives her wine and kola nuts. The male then talks to the family for approval. If said yes, they go through personal beliefs. After, the bride is sent off to live with the grooms family for the mother to see if the bride is worthy of doing her job which is doing house chores such as cooking, cleaning, etc.

• If bride has passed courtship, she gets many presents and is sent back home with wine and kola nuts.
