•CORE OBJECTIVES•Develop, Manage and Research the NigeriaWatch database
•Provide ad-hoc data on demand
•Train Researchers and Stakeholders toextract data they need
To compile and monitor data onViolent deaths in order to providestatistics and analyse trends of
fatalities in Nigeria
…how does our team build the database?1) Read and Analyze :- 10 daily newspapers-Reports from official and non-governmental Agencies - Only open sources -
2) Identify & Select all reportedviolent death events
3) Feed the database with the selected events as well as a PDF copy of the source material
This article reporting violent death has been selected
Parts of the article that correspond to specific fields in the database are underlined
A PDF copy of the article is saved to enable future researchers to access the source, verify the information entered in the database and extract new information
To feed the database we extract specific data (Title, LGA, etc.) from the newspaper article and enter them through this mask.
