What is Journey?The Journey program is a federally funded Student Support TRIO program designed to help students persist and transfer to 4-year colleges and universities. This free program provides services and various levels of support to traditionally under-represented student populations who are serious about transferring and completing their 4-year degree.
What’s the advantage of being a Journey student?
FREE ASSISTANCE!
Our program includes: Transfer-Ready SupportThe Journey program is geared towards helping students become transfer-ready, and then successfully apply to 4-year colleges and universities.
College & University ToursJourney students have the opportunity to visit the campuses of public and private colleges and universities in California.
Summer Bridge is a special summer orientation to help new students transition into the Journey program. Summer Bridge offers workshops and activities to provide students with study skills and academic support.
Access to One-on-One Counseling with the Journey Transfer Counselor. Get assistance in selecting the school that is right for you and guidance through the transfer process.
Learning CommunitiesJourney students can take classes and form study groups with other Journey students.
Peer MentorsEach Journey student is assigned to a peer mentor who they can contact if they have questions or need help.
Academic SupportGet help to access free tutoring services.

Am I eligible? In order to qualify for Journey, students must: • Be a US citizen or permanent resident
• Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at American River College
• Meet one or more of the following criteria:
Low financial income: family meets published Federal guidelines,
First-generation college student: neither parent has a four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or
Qualify for disabled student services at ARC
• Plan to transfer to a 4-year college or university
