What is changing ?The most important is the change in the labeling symbols :

Instead of the hazard symbols with black printing on orange rectangles, now nine hazard pictogramms are used to provide warnings.

PictogramsSymbols

R and S sentences have been replaced by H and P (Hazard and Precautionary)

The previous nomenclature : toxic, irritant, corosive… has been replaced by two “signals words” : Danger or Warning

What is changing ?

With the new regulation there are now classes :

– Five classes for physical dangers– Four classes for health hazards– One classe for environnemental

dangers

Classes can be divided (six divisions for flammable…)

Hazards categories

For one hazard classe (acute toxicity, skin corrosion…),

different categories may exist, depending on the danger (Categories 1,2,3 and 4)
