Sam: How has your work graph been for last one year?

Jean: It has been a very good year. I had some prestigious projects to work on and I was satisfied of my and my teams performance. We were able to get some good clients for the company and raise sales marginally. Do you agree.

Sam: I want to congratulate you on the smiths and co. a/c . Your contribution has given us a very big client and we are very proud of you. But one of the issue which I am concerned about is the issue we discussed few weeks ago is about the Americo pvt. ltd...They are looking for other agents in the markets. What is reason if you are aware about it. I want to know how you are progressing with that?

Jean: Well we are still under negotiation with them. There is a minor disagreement about the publicity plan. But I am sure we are in a well controlled state right now. I had a word with their manager 2 days back and we have a meeting scheduled next Monday.

Sam: Ok. We can now discuss about performance against objectives increase in sales, you only contributed to 10%

Jean: I have personally contributed many strategies planning towards increasing it. Our product promotion and sales strategies were perfect. But I am not sure how much sales was exactly intended. You never mentioned any target.

Sam: So what could be the reason. What do you suggest?

Jean: I suggest get customer feedback from calls and email and find out the cause for the drop in sales

Sam: what about the next year? What are your targets? We need to write down some objectives on the form.

Jean: I am aiming to new and improved sales strategies and conducting a market survey by appointing a team specially for it. It will give us direct customer feedback about the product features and out sales mechanism.

Sam: Well that’s a good idea. Please keep me updated with the reports and if you need any support from any of other staff.

Jean: Thanks.

Appraisal interview

Sam: how do you want your career to develop?

Jean: I like what I do..But I would like to get promoted..like a departmental Head in the company.

Sam: But promotion could mean more pressure..some people like that and some people don't. It can also mean longer hours, more responsibility, more problems with people. On the other hand more money..more power and more prestige.

Jean: I like greater responsibility and I find pressure exhilarating.
