What if I Sin?

I’m a Christian, but I blew it!

•What do I do?•First of all, was it a sin or a temptation?

Temptation vs Sin

Temptation – an appeal to fulfill a good desire in a bad way

Sin – a decision to fulfill a good desire in a bad way

Temptation vs Sin

Temptation – an Appeal to choice

Sin – a Choice

What to Do

Sin is like an infection, which terribly afflicts us the moment we choose it.

We ought not let it sit there and fester. We need to deal with it as soon as possible.

What to Do

Humble yourself before God.

We must judge our sin.

Judge it: “That act was disobedience to what I know God wanted me to do. I sinned.”

•Willful rebellion. •Inexcusable.

We must Forsake our sin.

Forsake it: “Jesus I surrender myself at this moment to your authority; I turn away from my refusal to obey you; and ask you to lead me in what you want me to do.”

We must Forsake our sin.

•Submit yourself afresh to God’s right to rule your life,

•commit yourself to obey God out of strengthening through relationship with the Holy Spirit (Ro. 8:13.)

We must Confess our sin.

We need to confess our sins.I John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, God

is faithful and just to forgive our sin.

• Admit what you did, that it was sin, and that you knew you ought not to have done it, and that there was no excuse for it. If we do this God will forgive us of our sin.

We must Confess our sin.

CALL IT BY NAME.Don’t sneak around admitting what you did.

Don’t cover it up.

•Ask God to forgive you.

God forgives us. He sees that He can wisely give us that wonderful gift because we have truly committed ourselves to meet the essential conditions of relationship and live in the purpose He created us for.

Acts 3:19 –

"Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away (God can wisely grant you forgiveness.)

in order that times of refreshing may

come from the presence of the Lord;

•Stay in relationship with God

•Through the help of the Holy Spirit vow to never sin again, and mean it.
