Subscriber Management Unit （ SMU ） is to

manage data of subscribers in the HLR.

The subscriber management unit (SMU) of the

HLR9820 provides two functions:

1. Managing subscriber data

2. Interfacing business hall (BNH) developed by a

For the HLR product, the SMU Server functions as the business hall

interface. First, the SMU Server translates the string command line of the

business hall, received from the software system of the third party, into the

internal command of the HLR; then sends the commands to the

corresponding modules to execute and receives the result; and finally

converts the result to a format that can be identified by the business hall

interface and sends it back to the business hall client.

The HLR business hall interface of Huawei is in the form of the string command line, including command name, parameter name, parameter value and so on, while will be described in details in the following sections.

Network Connection

1. The business hall client connects with the SMU Server by means of

TCP/IP.

2. The SMU Server provides a fixed IP address (for different sites, the IP

address may be different) for the business hall client, and opens the TCP

port (port 7777).


Network Connection


1. The maximum number the business hall client : It is fifty by

default and is one hundred by configuration.

2. Handshake Message Time: When a business hall client connects

with the SMU Server, the business hall client must send the SHK

HND:; message to the SMU Server every 20 seconds to verify that

the connection is normal.
