Westhampton Free Library cardholders may register for progams beginning Wednesday, May 1 at 9:30am, with certain exceptions where noted. Online registration is available from our homepage at westhamptonlibrary.net/programs through the Program Calendar. Registration is required for all programs unless noted and is limited to patrons of the

Westhampton Free Library. Non-card holders will be accommodated at the Library’s discretion. Many programs will be off-site as the Library undergoes renovations. Please check with the Library to verify program location. When applicable, payment is required within 7 days or when the Library reopens. A portion of the Library’s programs are supported by

the Friends of the Westhampton Free Library.

July: In July, Marissa Bridge exhibits her exquisite 3D florals. Of her work, she said, “My paintings use mixed-media artwork inspired by flowers.”

Also in July, the Display Case presents Ukrainian native Galina A. Melnik. She has worked as an architect and art restorer before moving to Manorville for a new life as a farmer’s wife and artist.

August: The Long Island Renaissance Man, Frank Latorre, will be exhibiting his paintings in August. An accomplished and award-winning artist, musician and professional chef,

Frank is well known all over Long Island and beyond.

Also in August, Laurence Blau will also show his photographs from around the world in the Display Case in August. “My approach is to see and experience new cultures around the world through photography, ” he said.

LUNCH AND LEARN: GONE: THE DISAPPEARANCE OF LOUISE PIETREWICZ: Friday, September 6 at 12:00pm. Steve Wick and Grant Parpan of The Suffolk Times newspaper set out to discover the truth about Louise Pietrewicz, a 38-year-old mother from Cutchogue who vanished after leaving her parents’ home in Sagaponack in October 1966. Gone, the award-winning documentary they produced with colleague Krysten Massa, has been heralded nationally as “a triumph of community journalism.” The victim’s daughter said, “My mother was murdered. People knew about it and did nothing about it. These journalists did.” Wick and Grant will be on-hand for a question and answer session following the documentary screening.

VILLAGE OF WESTHAMPTON BEACH JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CLINIC: Monday, July 29 – Thursday, August 1 from 9:00-11:00am at Rogers Beach. Learn about ocean water safety and rescue techniques consistent with New York State Ocean Lifeguard requirements. For age groups: 11-12; or 13-15. Participants should be able to swim 100 yards in 2 minutes, tread water for 3 minutes and swim underwater for 25 yards; evaluations will be held on the 1st day. Registration is $55.00. LAP TIME STORIES & SONGS: Tuesdays, July 2, 16, 30 and August 13, 27 from 10:00-10:30am. For ages birth through 2 years. Snuggle and bond with your baby or toddler as we sing, tickle, kiss and bounce our way into a lifelong love of reading.

PLAY HOORAY: Wednesdays, July 10, 17 and 24 from 11:00-11:45am for ages 2-5 years.

IMAGINATION PLAY: Friday, July 12 and August 2 from 10:00-11:30am. For walkers through 5 not yet in kindergarten.

LITTLE CREATIONS: Mondays, July 15 and August 12 from 10:00-11:30am. READY TO READ FRIDAYS: Fridays, July 19, 26 and August 9-23 from 10:30-11:00am.

Registration for our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KB4K) Club will begin again on September 1, 2019. *Books read during the Summer Reading Club will count toward the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Club books.
