There more coee shops and boutiques now, which oer individual products and services you won’t nd anywhere else.”

We asked about plans for Christmas and 2011, “We are oering a number of treatments over the Christmas period including sun beds, spray

years of experience they can guarantee a fast and reliable service regardless of the size of your investment. We spoke to Marko Puustinen, marketing co-ordinator at KK Bullion, about its origins, “KK Bullion was established in order to provide its founders with a safe haven investment in physical gold bars. Following a sustained period of worldwide economic growth the nancial system became exuberant and reckless and we felt that the possibility of nancial turbulence had become likely.” Marko explained about the investment opportunities, “Gold bars are a vital investment where the value of the world’s major economies and currencies is falling. The price of gold is not connected to any specic economy, as it is governed by supply which is falling and demand which increases as investors and governments turn to it when their own economies are in diculty.”

West Cli Baptist ChurchChristmas invitation from Chris Brockway

There’s something almost magical about Christmas. While children dream of Father Christmas and his sleigh, adults picture snow-laden Christmas trees, stockings brimming with gifts and the joy of sharing with loved ones around the re. It's a season of excitement, rejoicing and sometimes not a little stress! Is that how you see it ... or is there a missing ingredient in our Christmas celebrations? We warmly invite you to join with us at any of our Christmas Services as, in the words of C.S. Lewis, we celebrate the ‘central event in the history of the earth – the very thing the whole story has been about’. As we gather to sing carols, listen again to familiar stories and watch the younger one's dress up in the Nativity, we in fact celebrate the birthday of the most signicant person who has ever lived! A highlight for many every year is our Carols By Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve, where, in the atmospheric candlelit surroundings of West Cli Baptist Church, we have a moment amidst all the rushing around to still ourselves and nd that all important, but so often missing ingredient: ‘Emmanuel' - God with us. Warm mince pies and refreshments will be served afterwards! Or why not join us for our All-Age Christmas Day Celebration Service as the children excitedly show each other some of those long anticipated gifts, and together we celebrate the birth of God's Son.

Welcome to my second contribution to the Westbourne Magazine. I have been Home Manager of Canford Chase for over 5 years, and I really enjoy the excitement at this time of year as we plan our special festive events at the Home. An important feature of these events for the residents of Canford Chase is the home cooked food! It is easy to over indulge on festive food, but balance is the key to having an enjoyable and healthy time. Here are some suggestions: • Have generous portions of vegetables such as carrots,

parsnips, brussel sprouts and broccoli on your plate, or in warming soups.

• Swap puddings for fresh fruit salad, topped with plain yoghurt and honey, a large bowl is well on the way to half of your ‘5 a day’.

• Snack on dried fruits such as figs and dates, instead of chocolates.

All of the above are super sources of vitamins, minerals and bre, to keep you feeling energetic for your festive parties!

Healthy Lifestylewith Angie Stewart RN BSc(Hons)

Peter Watson, chef at Canford Chase, has provided his “secret recipe” for Festive Mulled Punch:Ingredients: 1 litre cranberry juice, 1 litre orange juice, slice 2 mandarins and 1 lemon, 2 cinnamon sticks, 4 star anise. Place all ingredients in pan, warm through, pour in suitable glass, relax, enjoy!

Colten Care is a family-run company who have more than 20 years experience in building and managing high quality Care Homes, including Canford Chase.

The prospect of moving into a care home may lead you to believe that you have to give up an independent and socially active life, but nothing could be further from the truth. Each home employs an Activity Organiser offering many and varied activities to enrich and fulfil each day, with the needs of an individual always

taken into consideration.

This, coupled with a resident-led hospitality programme which has an in-house chef, waitress service and locally sourced home-cooked food as standard, means that you can feel assured that your life choices will be acknowledged, respected and continued.

Mabel & Jacks opened in Westbourne on Monday 25th October. It is a small family run business, supplying ladies and gents underwear, nightwear and hosiery. We spoke to Jane to nd out what they sell, “We oer a fully qualied bra tting service and specialise in mastectomy bra's. We stock traditional lines and classic ranges, including Triumph, Sloggi, Charnos and Wolsey. Mabel & Jacks oers a warm, friendly and most importantly a personal service. ”Why Westbourne we asked, “The area has a strong supportive community and a number of quality independent retailers, distinctly lacking in many of our chain laden high streets. Mabel & Jacks hopes to continue that independent trend and go a little way to keeping Westbourne High Street truly unique.”
