A NOTE FROM FATHER ANDREW Page 2
MASS INTENTIONS FOR THE WEEK
Holy Rosary is said
every Sunday morning
at 8 am just before
the beginning of the
8:30 Mass.
Communion Service
Every Tuesday
at 9:00 am Except on
Holy Days
Dear Parish Family,
I am sure that all of us are saying we have had enough of the snow even though it is the first big storm this year. With ground hog day approaching will see what out little furry friend has to say about how much more winter
we will be having; hopefully not the six weeks.
On February 3rd we celebrate St. Blaise, this is the day we have the blessing of throats. Because the feast falls
in the middle of the week on a Wednesday we will have the blessing of throats on the day itself after the 9:00am
mass and at a prayer service at 12:00 noon.
Don’t forget visit our website for the latest important information on Faith in our Future and Faith to Move
Mountains. Remember a couple of weeks ago before Mass I shared with you that your input was very valua-
ble. Please take the time and fill out the survey we will be sending you and send it back as soon as possible.
When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury.” Why were these folks furious? Because they didn’t like what Jesus told them. Jesus was implying that his fellow Nazarenes in the synagogue
were blind to who he really was. They didn’t like being told that they were wrong. But Jesus told them anyway. He knew that these people needed to hear the truth, even if it mean that he would be unpopular.
It can be tempting to confuse Jesus’ kindness and goodness with passivity, mistakenly imagining him as a per-
son who would never ruffle any feathers because he was so concerned about being “nice.” This one-sided im-age of Jesus can lead us to excuse our own passivity about the falsehood and evil that surrounds us. We can
justify our silence or inaction by convincing ourselves that we shouldn’t upset anyone. But the fact is that Jesus upset people on a regular basis. That wasn’t his goal, of course, but he was willing to deal with resistance for
the sake of truth and justice. And we should be willing to do the same.
Stay warm!
Looking forward to seeing you on the weekend!

This Saturday morning our children began to prepare for their First Holy Communion. They will attend two more
prep sessions and together as a family prepare for this special day using the book they received at Mass: Eucharist: We Give Praise and Thanks. This week the children discussed how through the waters of Baptism they are brought
into God’s family, a very large family, a family of all those who have been baptized, our faith family of Holy Eucha-rist.
Share in our children’s journey to God’s table by thinking about the significance of Baptism in your life and remem-bering the children in your prayers as they look forward to meeting Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist.
SURVEY-FAITH IN OUR FUTURE As previously announced, Bishop David O’Connell has commissioned an initiative in our diocese called Faith in
Our Future. With this evaluation the bishop seeks to bring about positive change, deepen faith and build a vibrant
future of mission and service in the Diocese of Trenton. With Faith in Our Future, we will look closely at our
parish of Church of the Holy Eucharist and the surrounding community. As promised, we will keep you informed
of our progress and ask you to participate .
This week, we ask you to share your insights about our parish by taking a VERY important survey. Topics of the
survey include: Sacramental Life, Evangelization, Communal Life and Stewardship and leadership. You will
find the link to the survey at http://holyeucharist.org/#/faith-in-our-future. For those without internet access,
we have paper surveys available at the Welcome Center. We strongly encourage you, however, to take the survey
ONLINE in order to assist us in accumulating the data and for the confidentiality of the survey.
Surveys are to be completed by Sunday February 14. Results of the survey will be available in future weeks.
Thank you for your time and insights as we continue our prayerful journey of Faith in Our Future.
From Father Andrew:
During the coming weeks I will be talking to you about “The Story of Your Life” in my message (homily)
series. I invite you to dig deeper into your story. We will be providing a question(s) for personal reflection to help you dig deeper into your story. Below are questions to consider based on this weekend’s message. Take
10 minutes get some quiet time and answer the question. Perhaps you can even dedicate a small journal to write down your thoughts.
If you like you can even share your answer with family members or friends, it will make interesting discus-
sions. If you would like to re-read this past weekend’s message, visit our website beginning Monday at:
http://holyeucharist.org/#/mass-times-and-calendar/homilies.
Your life is a story. It’s a story to be told. Make it a story worth telling.
Questions for week 5 ( January 30,31 2016)
1. Why is it important that we consult God for the roles we play in life, rather than allow other people to dic-
tate them to us? 2. How can you use your gifts and abilities to draw people closer to him?
3. What is your reaction to being called a “prophet?” What are your opportunities to speak God’s word into other people’s lives?
Once Upon a Time for Children
In addition to Father Andrew’s message series, our Children’s Word program will also be exploring a similar theme called Once Upon a Time.
In this series, we will discover our God story. You may be thinking what is a God Story? Every experience we
have is part of our story. These experiences can be happy, sad, frustrating and even amazing. But when we live like Jesus our story is included in God’s tale. And He is there to help us around every bend. Here’s some
questions to share and discuss with your children:
1. What does it mean to love someone?
2. In what ways are you loved? (By who? What do they do to show love?)
3. When is a time that God showed you He loved you?
4. How is God writing _____________________'s story?
Mission Do something loving for someone else.
THE STORY OF Y OUR L IFE
BLESSING OF THE THROATS There will be a blessing of the Throats on the Feast of St. Blaise , Wednesday February 3rd after 9:00 am Mass and
at a 12:00 Noon Prayer Service.
