The death of a spouse, child, family member, or close friend can be devastating. Christians are able to claim an external perspective and rejoice that the person that they lost is now in the presence of God. Even so, as humans, we must grieve a loss that is so deep and significant. The grieving process is lengthy and intense. Even mature Christians with a solid faith need ongoing comfort and encouragement during the grieving period. People without a faith face a bleak mourning process. Without the encour- agement that comes from the assurance of eternal life, the issues accompanying grief are significant. GriefShare, a ministry led by Jean Birckhead, trained facilitator, (assisted by Sherree Robinson and Frank Beamon) is designed to provide essential tools and structure to help those who have lost loved ones.
