Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day he rose from the dead;He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
glOria patri Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Jesus Of Nazareth ..........................................................................................................................................................Charles Gounod Andrea Tulipana, soprano
Tho’ poor be the chamber, come here, come and adore; Lo! The Lord of Heaven hath to mortals given life forever more. Shepherds who folded your flocks beside you, Tell what was told by angel voices near: To you this night is born He who will guide you Thro’ paths of peace to living waters clear. Kings from a far land, draw near and behold Him, Led by the beam whose warning bade ye come; Your crowns cast down, with robe royal enfold Him; Your King descends to earth from brighter home. Wind, to the cedars proclaim the joyful story; Wave of the sea, the tidings bear afar. The night is gone! Behold, in all its glory All broad and bright rises the Eternal Morning Star.

“God Is
Still
Speaking”
A New Sermon Series
Sundays January 14, 21, 28 and February 4, 11 How do we hear God’s voice today? Many people sincerely want to follow God’s
guidance but they struggle with hearing God’s voice telling them what is
required. Using episodes from the lives of Samuel, Elijah, Isaiah, the Israelites
wandering in the wilderness, and Jesus, we will learn how to better attune our
hearts and minds to hear God speaking to us today.
Flannery O’Connor Discussion Group

Thursdays January—December 2:00—3:15

you can read the story before each meeting.

The Reverend Dr. Jeff Patterson leads a study that looks at the life of
the historical Jesus. Our pastor’s knowledge of the land of Israel and
the Judaism of Jesus’ day will set Jesus firmly in his historical context
and show how the earliest followers of Jesus came to worship him as
the Son of God and Lord of all Creation.
This study will take place at noon (Dining Hall) and 6:30 pm (Media
Center) on Wednesdays January 10—May 9 (except Holy Week).
Journey Groups are a
new initiative for Wesley
Memorial members and
friends to CONNECT with
others, REFLECT on the
week, and EFFECT a
change in their lives and
the world.
Eugene Peterson has said, “We are not interested in knowing more
but becoming more.” That’s what Journey Groups are all about!
Groups of 3-8 folks who hang out with the goal of building
relationships for transformation. This is a totally new kind of small
group for Wesley Memorial—no teachers, no speakers, no books to
read. Just people sharing life together.
