WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?

Be involved. Keep your child involved. Ask questions.

Stay connected.

Kids often begin to pull away during middle school.

This is normal during middle school.

At the same time, this is when they need you the

most, just in a different way. Mistakes are ok!!

Mistakes help people learn, including children.

Check your child’s planner every night or Google

Classroom and teacher/team pages

When in doubt, contact the teacher or counselor.

Academic Core Courses -Grade 6 Teamed Teachers

Teaming enables teachers to get to know the students and share ideas and plans. It also enables teams to plan for team events and activities.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Physical Education – Alt days, all year

Home/Career Skills (HACS) – 1 semester in 6th

Grade

Art – 1 semester in 6th Grade

Music – Full year, every day or Alt days

Computers – Full year, Alt days

Not all of these classes may appear on schedules due to individual student programs as needed

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Academic Interventions—Part of Master

Schedule New Staff has been added to help provide AIS for students

Math and Learning Lab Every Period, students are able to get extra help during lunch or

study hall. Not all 6th graders have study hall in their schedule so

lunch is an option.

Lockers, will be in use within first week of school.
