RICHARD BOGUSZ Richard was born in Europe in 1947 of German /Polish parents who immigrated to Australia when Richard was five. His artistic talent blossomed early, gifted with a natural ability to draw and an abundant imagination. Richard has held a great desire ‘to work things out for himself and copy no one’. He has avoided any external influences, which he feared would corrupt his unique perception of the world. As an artist, Richard Bogusz does not deal in reality, but in a journey into his imagination. Richard began painting professionally in the 1970’s and during that period he won a number of awards & prizes. In 1986, Richard and his family migrated to Townsville to escape the pressure and expectation of those demanding his work. Here he embraced clear, bright colours which would be a refreshing contrast from the greys and browns of his earlier work. In 2001, he moved to Brisbane where he continued to paint his imaginative, narrative works, with his girls in bright dresses interacting with the birds and landscape which are instantly recognized as a ‘Bogusz’. The demand for Richard’s work has been so high that he has chosen to just supply a few selected Australian galleries with whom he has developed a close rapport. His works grace collections throughout Australia and overseas and paintings usually sell from $1000 to $2500.

It is here that he introduced the soft misty Highland light into his romantic studies of life in the Australian bush; a feature that he has developed and explored over the years and is recognised in his work today.
