Slumping MouldsPerth Art Glass

Imported from Europe, theses are the finest moulds on the commercial market. Slipcast from a specially formulated clay body, they have an exceptionally smooth surface, will accept kiln wash uniformly and do not crack under repeat usage if handled carefully.

Please note stock varies in store and moulds may need to be ordered.

ClassicClassic 30x8cm This mould has been designed to create focal pieces for coffee tables or side boards. The depth and large diameter as well as the firm base make a perfect vessel for serving fruit, salads, desserts etc.

With a smaller glass diameter also suitable as dinnerware, e.g. salad or dessert bowl. The art deco shape invites to play with pat-terns and colours of the 1920’s.

This is a very special mould to make a large and deep bowl with a wide solid base. A typi-cal serving dish for salads, deserts and other foods. Instead of cutting the glass round try a square piece or a piece with an irregular outline. A smaller circle will result in a more shallow dish, e.g. soup bowl etc.

Soft Edge 4 35x35cm These moulds have been designed to create a serving dish for snacks, spices, herbs etc. Make sure to monitor the slumping process to avoid the glass from “grabbing” the mould.

Alter the appearance of the finished piece by cutting the glass to match the slumping edge. Avoid deformation of the rim (lengthwise) choose a very low slumping temperature with a long soak.

BridgeCandle Bridge 4 This mould has been designed to create a Candle Bridge but this does not need to be its only use. It has an interesting topography which could lend itself as a template to create interesting pre-fabricated componants such as curved stringers etc..

This particular mould has a repeated deep structure and as the glass shrinks on cooling it will tend to grab on the sides. These types of mould require plenty of shelf primer and extra care when removing the slumped glass. A customer who has a production using this mould tells us that he taps the glass with a wooden block before removing it. All convex slumpings require careful positioning of the glass plus a good control of the slumping temperature, to stop the glass from ‘grabbing’ the mould.

Pyramid 16x16cm The smooth inside of this mould will give you a shiny glass surface with hardly any need for coldworking. Coldworking of one side is an option to reveal the inside life of the pyramid.

You can vary the glass quantity to alter the size of the final piece. For a full pyramid you need approx. 2 kg of glass. For high clarity use billets but you can also use sheet glass, frit or rods for different results. The recom-mended firing chart will lead to a smooth piece of glass with a glossy surface. The finished piece will shrink somewhat, de-pending on the amount of glass used. Some coldworking on the edges with a diamond pad may be necessary.

Flat Slumper 28x28cm

This universal template answers to the most numerous applications from art object to life-style accessory, dinner ware, gift object and many more. The mould has a small but near-ly invisible base which gives the glass the look of an even curve. This mould also works well with a circular or unevenly cut glass.


Almond 34x21cm This elegant template offers numerous appli-cations from art object to lifestyle accessory, gift object and many more. The size and depth of the mould also suggests the option of dinner ware for salads, deserts etc.

The mould has a small base which makes the glass object potentially unstable if used as dinnerware. To increase the size of the base, you can cut a thin layer of ceramic fibre board to fill up the most narrow par of the mould. You can cut the glass shape to match the full outline of the mould, but you can also use a smaller piece of glass or one with an uneven outline.


Wine Bottle Slumper 17x39cm

By lowering the temperature to a sinter firing (approx. 720°C) the piece will shrink less and have a rougher ‘Sugary’ look similar to pâte-de-verre.
