    Dear Parishioners,

The Gospel that we have for this Sunday is a narra-

tion of a day that the author remembers very clearly.

We have a clue about how he remembered it clearly

by a line that is so simple that we can easily pass it

by without realizing its significance. The author

wrote: “It was about four in the afternoon…” The Gos-

pel according to John was written about 60 years af-

ter Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and yet the au-

thor remembered the time of the day when he first en-

countered the Lord. It was indeed a significant event

in his life and because of that, he wanted others to

know about it, hence the writing of the Gospel.

Brothers and sisters, let us remind ourselves of our

first encounter with Jesus and let us remember how

great we felt. And let us allow that memory to move

us into action calling others to come and see this

great Messiah that we encountered and are now in a

relationship with. But then, if in all honesty we can-

not recall having that powerful experience meeting or

encountering Jesus Christ in our life yet, then some-

thing needs to be done. We have to pray for the grace

to meet Him and let us open our hearts to Him. I be-

lieve that in His goodness and mercy, we can be sure,

that grace will be given. And when that happens, we

can be one with John in saying our own version of the

words: “It was about four in the afternoon...” Let our

celebration of the Eucharist here weekly truly be a

powerful and life changing encounter with Jesus

    Christ.

May God continue to bless us all.

    In Christ, Fr. Maro.

When the annual Fireman’s Toy Drive was unable to take place this year because of Covid-19 restrictions, the Tillamook Com-munity stepped up and the toy drive for the Tillamook Ecumeni-cal Community Christmas Basket Program this year was a huge success. The 2020 Christmas Basket program served approxi-mately 478 children with toys and gift cards.

Thank you to Werner Meats, Knights of Columbus-Tillamook, Les Schwab and individuals in our Tillamook Community. Spe-cial thanks to the parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for all of their generosity and use of their facilities to make this a very Merry Christmas for many families in need in our commu-nity. Blessings to all and Happy New Year!!

  • II SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME / II DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO JANUARY/ENERO 17, 2021

    Estimados feligreses,
