SINGING AND PLAYING
MUSIC
DO YOU LIKE TO SING AND
PLAY MUSIC?
We offer singing classes for students in years 4-9 with an emphasis on fun,
friendship and learning. Our experienced, enthusiastic teachers make sure
you get the best possible education in every subject. Not to mention the
feeling of joy and togetherness – times you will never forget.
FUN, FRIENDSHIP, LEARNING
Most music instruction is based on
the electives of the school and
students. You will have chorus
practice three times a week and a
regular music class once a week.
The school has five instructors in
chorus and music. We also work
with other teachers who specialize
in drama, dance, etc
CHORUS AND MUSIC INSTRUCTION
Our students regularly sing and perform all around Eskilstuna. We collaborate with the school of music
and other institutions. Among our projects over the past year have been Volvo i Eskilstuna Musikkår,
Scenkonst Sörmland, Clownclubben at Mälarsjukhuset Hospital and Theatre Pegasus in Stockholm.
Our Ambitions is that the students may work on a major project once under their academic year 7-9.
A project that will end in a brand new musical at Eskilstuna Theatre.
BIG PROJECTS
You and your parents are invited to an
evening hosted by class one of our music-
classes in our Assembly Hall starting at
5:30 pm on Tuesday, 13 November. We
want you to have the chance to experience
the joy of singing along with lots of other
people. You will also hear about what
happens in our music classes and get a
little taste of the concerts we have
performed during the year. You do not
have to tell us in advance that you are
coming.

HOW DO I APPLY TO TAKE MUSIC CLASSES AT
DJURGÅRDSSKOLAN?
You can submit a formal application at the online municipal service for school choice
(eskilstuna.se/skolval). Your choice must be registered sometime between 1 November and 15
December.
During the day on 10, 13 or 14 January 2020, you will take a simple test of your singing ability and sense of
pitch. You will receive the date and time of your test before the end of the autumn semester. We will also hold
an informational session at 5:30 pm on Thursday, 9 January in the Assembly Hall. We will show you how an
admissions test is given so that you will be prepared. If you are unable to attend the session or if you have
been scheduled for the test at an inconvenient time, make sure to call us at 016-710 17 26 or 016-710 4845
and let us know.
If you choose a music class as your second subject, you will still need to take an admissions test
The singing test will give you the chance to demonstrate that you have sufficient musical ability to benefit
from our instruction. If more students pass the test than we have room for, the results of the admissions test
will determine those who have the highest priority. Notifications of admission will be sent out in late January.
