Welcome to theParish of The Upper Wreake
"The church is less easy to manage than, say, a factory for making gardenfurniture. Churches are not just human groups organised round a
straightforward task. They are primarily places of divine encounter, places where we wrestle with the meaning of God and the meaning
of our own lives. They are bound to be untidy."
Bishop Richard Holloway in 'Churches & How to Survive Them'
We believe God's intention for human beings is that we should grow in such love for him & such confdence in him that we would rightly be called God's sons & daughters. And that, if being baptised is being led to where Jesus is, then“being baptised is being led towards the chaos & the neediness of a humanity that has forgoten its own destiny.” (Archbishop Rowan Williams)
We are all on a journey through life. A presupposition of the Church of England is that we do not travel alone. Where is God in relation to that journey? He is both the starting point and the ending point. Not only that but in all our rushing around between the beginning and the end, he is there too. So the journey we take is an accompanied one. God is with us every step of the way. And we seek to be his presence to others.
Which all means that when you come to one of the six Anglican churches in the Parish of The Upper Wreake, you come to a place of divine encounter.
Join us as we wrestle with what it means to “love God”; with what it means
to “love your neighbour; with what it means to “love yourself”.
Do get in touch if you have something to celebrate, such as a birth, an
engagement or a marriage – we'd love to draw alongside. If you have a personal crisis due to illness, bereavement or other loss – we are here to accompany you. And if you are curious about the Christian faith and want to know more … let's talk!
The Upper Wreake Parish is linked with the South Croxton Benefce and theBurrough Hill Benefce to form the South West Framland Group Ministry
& we work closely with the Upper Wreake Methodist Churches.

Parish
Council
Frisby Parish Council Frisby Parish Council normally meets eight to
ten times a year. Notification of meetings is
posted on the village notice boards outside the Village Hall and the Methodist Chapel. There are
5 Councillors.
The Parish Council produces occasional newsletters which are distributed to every
household in the village and a regularly updated website is available at www.frisby-pc.org.uk
Members of the public are welcome to attend
Parish Council meetings to observe proceedings. At the beginning of each meeting 15 minutes is
set aside for public participation. Individuals can have a 3 minute slot to raise their issue.
A parish clerk is employed by the council and is the main point of contact with the Parish
Council. Our Clerk has accumulated much useful knowledge and experience and is there to help.
If you have something you would like discussing it is best to approach the clerk or one of your
councillors at least one week before a meeting, if at all possible, so that the facts can be
gathered and the item can be placed on the
agenda.
One of the functions of your parish council is to help you with any queries you may have on local
matters ranging from street lighting to planning
applications. Some issues are the responsibility
of the Melton Borough Council and others the responsibility of the Leicestershire County
Council and your parish clerk can put you in touch with the right department.
Residents are consulted via their Parish Council
on planning policy for their parish and planning applications are circulated to the Parish Council
to gauge local opinion on the application and respond accordingly. It is helpful to remember
that Parish Councils can only object to plans on
planning grounds including whether access to the highway will cause problems.
Each year the Parish Council sets a precept (a
small addition to the Council Tax to cover the council’s budget for the coming year). A Parish
Council’s expenditure may cover items such as bus shelters, litter bins, public seating, the maintenance of grounds for which the council is responsible, extra street lighting, grants to
village halls etc. Frisby-on-the-Wreake Parish Council is responsible for the Rotherby Lane
Burial Ground in Frisby.
If you would like to become a parish councillor,
attend meetings to see what is involved, discuss the duties with an existing councillor and stand
for election. Elections normally take place every four years. Occasionally a vacancy may occur
between elections and the council has the power

Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch works by developing close liaison between households
and the local police.
It aims to help people protect themselves and their property by fostering a
community spirit.
There is no work or commitment involved in becoming a member of your local
Neighbourhood Watch group.
Once you have joined you will be kept informed of local issues and concerns.
You can join in either of these ways;
1. The most effective way is to join on-line; go to
http://www.ourwatch.org.uk/
and search for your local NHW group using your postcode. Select a group
from the list of those displayed. Click on the “Apply to join” button at the
bottom of the screen and enter your details.
By joining in this way, once you have been accepted into the group by the
Coordinator, you will be able to select the kind of messages that you want
to receive directly from the police and other organisations as soon as they
are issued.
You will not have messages delayed because they need to be forwarded
by another member or by the group coordinator.
2. Alternatively, if you have no access to a computer, you can contact me and
I will ensure that you receive any information that I think you will find
appropriate.

Welcome to Frisby-on-the-Wreake Flower & Garden Club
Founded in 1961
We look forward to meeting you at one of the monthly meetings of our lovely friendly flower club. We meet in Frisby village hall. on the third Tuesday evening of the month at 7 for 7.30pm (excluding August) and attract members from a wide area including all the Wreake Valley villages and Melton. Members and visitors come to enjoy a mix of demonstrations, plant talks, garden visits and workshops. The flower arrangements produced by our professional demonstrators are raffled at the end of each meeting for just £1 a ticket!
Visitors are welcome at all meetings so, if you love flowers and plants, why not come along one evening and see for yourself. We serve refreshments when the meeting has finished which gives you a chance to chat and learn more about our club. Our Christmas meetings in particular are extremely popular. If you are new to the village it is a great way to get to know people and to help you settle into your new surroundings.

Amateur Dramatics for the Wreake Valley Frisby Players staged their first production in 1995. Since then we have presented forty; plays, reviews and children’s productions. We have our own stage and scenery, and generally perform for three nights once a year, in Frisby Village Hall. In between productions, we read plays in members’ homes, and have fun social evenings together. This is a small friendly group, drawing its members mainly from Frisby and surrounding villages. So if you’d like to act, join the technical team, paint scenery, stage manage, or help behind the Bar, phone or email; Gayna 434565 [email protected] Kate 434529 [email protected] Julie 434994 [email protected]
FRISBY The Home of Live Music in Frisby!LIVE

These unique and very special shows involve local, national and even international musicians of the very highest calibre. Some of these players are literally world class!
With a full stage and professional lighting, and breath-taking sound quality at low volume (yes, really!) these events are a hugely popular fixture in the Frisby Village calendar. Bookable table seating and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere makes this a truly great night out.
Bring your own nibbles and drinks (people bring hampers!), and settle in for an evening of outstanding entertainment in the comfort of your own Village Hall. We really are incredibly lucky as a community to have such high quality music on our doorsteps!
A Spectacular Night of Entertainment!
Six or seven times a year Frisby Live brings music of the highest professional standards to Frisby.
The concerts are organised by Frisby Live Musical Director and local musician, John Montague, who has been bringing live music to the village for over 20 years. Frisby Creatives
We are a group of artists and makers based in Frisby on
the Wreake. We welcome people from the surrounding
villages.
We are a mixed group and cover many disciplines
including ceramics, glass, textile art, wood carving,
printing and painting to name a few. We come together
to socialise, share our knowledge and our interest in the
arts.
We are quite a new group and have only been in
existence for a year, we formed in January 2017.We had
a busy first year, in September we held a very successful
exhibition at The Bell Inn and opened 5 artist’s studios
in the village and in December we held a Christmas
selling event when we raised money for Cancer
Research. We have lots of activities planned for 2018
including trips to exhibitions and opportunities to work
together.
