WENTWORTH PARK The Dapiran family is making a habit of upsetting more fancied rivals at Wentworth Park, with Zipping Rory recording a 41.75 victory in heat one of the Bohemia Crystal Sydney Cup (720m) at Wentworth Park. Saturday’s (October 4) Group 3 qualifiers, saw Bethany Dapiran’s stayer just smartly and lead from boxes to the finish line, beating the more fancied types of Sweet It Is, Dusty Moonshine and Space Star. Race favourite Sweet It Is rattled home from last position to finish in second, while Dusty Moonshine finished in third ahead of My Asuncion and Space Star. In heat two it was in form Rough Cut Diamond which claimed winning honours in 41.90. Scoring by 3 ½ lengths over Mr Corsair, Zipping Maggie and Paddles Anderson, Ruff Cut Diamond will start from box two in next week’s $25,000 to the winner final. Box draw for the 2014 Group 3 Bohemia Crystal Sydney Cup is:

2013 Stud Book - Now on Sale

Greyhound breeding and racing enthusiasts can now order Vol 61 of the Greyhound Stud Book. This publication is required reading for students seeking to become more widely knowledgeable about the greyhound racing industry.

Question : Vol 61 lists the number of litters whelped in the year ending June 30th 2013 – name the top five sires in the number of litters whelped ?

To help your judgement, the top ten sires in alphabetical order are : Bekim Bale, Collision, Cosmic Rumble, Dyna Lachlan, Dyna Tron,El Grand Senor, Fabregas, Lochinvar Marlow, Magic Sprite, Spring Gun.

Despite the doomsayers’ negativity, in truth, Australian greyhound breeding activity is quite healthy. The 2013 Stud Book recorded 2,985 litters whelped, and 13,010 greyhounds named. These figures are quite satisfactory, given the five year average for litters is 2,944, and the five year average for named greyhounds is 12,708.

Some prominent greyhounds making their first appearance as sires in the 2013 Stud Book include : Barcia Bale (42 litters), Blue Lorian (7), Don’t Knocka Him (8), Oaks Road (53), Radley Bale (20).

Answer : Cosmic Rumble topped the list of sires with litters whelped with 191 litters, which produced 1,267 pups, followed by Bekim Bale (138 litters), Collision (129), Magic Sprite (4), Spring Gun (112).

The top five are followed by : Fabregas (101), Dyna Lachlan (91), El Grand Senor (90), Lochinvar Marlow (76), Dyna Tron (71).

Greyhound racing devotees can contact Greyhounds Australasia phone (03) 9548 3500, or email [email protected] to order the 2013 Stud Book, or for enquiries.

BULLI

The Melinda Finn prepared Winsome Prince extended his winning run to six from as many starts with a commanding win in the Blue Paws Final at Bulli last Wednesday. Exiting from box 1 Winsome Prince showed brilliant middle section speed to set up the victory & pick up the nice Blue Paws bonus in the process. Two heats of the Bulli to Wentworth Park were also decided with fantastic Mick for Jason Fletcher and Dragon Emgrand for Luke Azzopardi the heat winners. This final will be run at Wentworth Park next Friday with some exciting greyhounds in the final. You could expect to see a few of these to be regulars in town. Appin trainer Mary Wright rarely leaves Bulli without a winner this time landing a winning double on the night with Kool Larocca & the very nice type Dark Magnum both impressive winners. It would be interesting to see the winning strike rates for trainers at Bulli as Austral trainer Jason Magri would be high on the list after another win producing the 1st starter Nyree for a debut win. Other winners on the night included the Glenn Jenkins trained Unleash De Magic, Paddy’s Beer for Patrick Byrne, Mighty Hurricane for Lewis Galea & Senor Bond for trainer Shaun Parnis who had one punter doing cart wheels in the home straight. Bulli nominations close this Friday at 9am for the October 15th race meeting with 5th grade 472m heats down foe decision. Bulli will also release this week details of a $10,000 to the winner Maiden series in December over the 472m. Bulli also has 2 nice 659m Races coming up later this month with a 0-4 wins 659m on October 29th that carries $2000 to the winner. Bulli would like to thank the new recently formed NSW Stayers Club for sponsoring this race. This will be followed by a 659m series in conjunction with Gosford in to a Wentworth Park Saturday night meeting with excellent Prizemoney. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 15TH. AUS-PUMP Concrete Heats 5th Grade 472m. HEAT WINNERS $1080 FINAL WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22ND. 1ST $1400 / 2ND $315 / 3RD $155 Bulli Trials on Tuesday’s & Friday’s with Private trials available on both days. Bulli also trials after each race meeting. It is amazing how many Greyhounds trial and Race at Bulli that come out & win there next race starts on other tracks. To keep up to date with Bulli upcoming events go to our website www.greyhoundsbulli.com Events are listed until the end of October. Good luck in the racing week ahead. Hully.
