The StudentVue and ParentVue screen are the same. You or your child can type in the username and password from here.

** You can also download the gradebook app from this screen. 7

This is the screen that will appear with your child’s name and picture. If no picture is posted, do not worry. Just ensure that it’s your child’s name listed. The names would be where the yellow boxes are.

To view your child’s grades, click on Grade Book –in the Navigation box.

This screen shows all the classes your child is currently taking. This is where you can see the current grades and where you can email the teacher directly.

Click on the Course Title for more details about the specific class.

Our CMS rules and procedures are called-

The Sabercat Way!It consists of the 3Ps: Prepared, Polite, and Performing.

• Students will learn and practice how to be Prepared, Polite and Performing at all times on the CMS campus.

• ROARs will be awarded to students who demonstrate the 3Ps as appreciation for their commitment to the rules and procedures of CMS.

• In exchange, ROARS are used as school currency in the ROARS store. 11

Who can retake an assessment?

● Students are expected to retake an assessment if they scored below 70%.

● Students may request to retake an assessment if they scored up to 90%.

What types of assessments can be taken again?

● Formative assessments (QUIZZES) may be taken again.

○ Summative assessments (TESTS) may only be taken again at Teacher Discretion.

○ Certain assessments may not be able to be taken again.

○ If there was no effort made on the initial assessment or if the marking period is ending (i.e. last 10 days of the marking period) a student may not be able to retake the assessment.

How to complete a retake?

Students need to ask the teacher if a retake is possible. Students must submit a plan or Retake Request Form for the 5 days prior to the retake assessment.

When will the retake happen?

It is important for the student to be proactive in order to schedule the retake. It will take place five school days or a week after the initial assessment and the student will be notified about the specific retake date.

Where will it happen?

Typically, a retake will be done during “office hours” or before or after school. A teacher may accommodate by having the student retake an assessment during class time, if time permits. Retakes will not happen during the final week of a quarter.

Wednesdays- Advisory PeriodWHY?Middle School students who are the most successful are the ones who feel that someone at school knows them and are invested in helping them achieving their academic and personal goals.

This is accomplished by helping have a growth mindset, teaching them how to monitor and adjust their learning and encouraging them to become self-advocates.

WHO?A small group of students (12-15) will be assigned to a teacher or staff member.WHEN?Student Advisory Groups will meet every Wednesday from 830a-915a.WHAT?• Work on organizational skills through

agenda and binder checks. • Team building activities.• Grade monitoring• AVID Strategies

4th Period will be a ROTATING extension of CORE classes: math, ELA, science and social studies throughout the week. Included in the rotation, students will meet with their WEB leaders for small & large group lessons.

An example schedule for 6th grade could be:

Monday 4th period = 1st period class

Tuesday 4th period = 2nd period class

Thursday 4th period = WEB group

Friday 4th period = 5th period class

Following Monday 4th period = 6th period class

Following Tuesday 4th period = 1st period class

What about 4th Period? Core?

Students will use their CMS Agenda to

monitor the rotation of 4th Period Core

classes for each week.(NO 4th Period on Early Release

Wednesdays)

What is WEB?

•Every 6th grader will be involved in WEB, Where Everyone Belongs.

•WEB is a program that helps 6th graders acclimate to middle school and gives

them a sense of belonging amongst their peers, as well as mentorship from 8th

grade students.

•WEB takes place all year long and 6th graders will be meeting with their 8th

grade leaders several times a month on Thursdays during period 4. They will

take part in activities that promote team building, life and school skills, and help

them to make friends.

•Every 6th grader is placed in small groups and has two 8th grade leaders who

are their mentors for the year.

8th graders will be asking for contact phone numbers on the first day of school

so that they can call your kiddo and check up on how their first week of school

went.
