WELCOME

We are almost at that magical time of year again, Christmas lists are being written and children are looking forward to a well-deserved rest (as are parents!)

Our venues have been buzzing with activity and end of year party planning is underway! The countdown to the end of term is on and I know it will be December before we know it! Supervisors have some wonderful activities planned this term and I have enjoyed seeing the great photos on our facebook page, as well as visiting the venues personally. I always receive a warm welcome and love to hear the latest news from all of the children.

A huge thank you to all of our staff for making Busy Bumbles the special place that it is and welcome to our new staff who have recently joined the Busy Bumbles family. Your enthusiasm and professionalism is inspiring.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME Santa is getting prepared for Christmas as we are getting prepared for the upcoming Holiday Programme! At this point we believe that Santa and Busy Bumbles are tied in first place when it comes to exciting and fun ideas to keep the children occupied and happy over the summer holiday break!

It is with suggestions from the children themselves that our days have been planned and we are excited to be able to offer a programme that will keep children of all ages busy, occupied, happy and above all safe and cared for whilst parents are committed elsewhere.

WHATS BEEN HAPPENING It has been another very busy term at our Rolleston venue and the children have enjoyed playing games and making crafts from our various themed weeks so far. We started off our term with tropical summer week where we transported ourselves to a tropical island making Hawaiian leis and playing beach relays! Since then we have had fun with slime and spiders during our Halloween week, challenged one another during puzzle week and mixed with all different colours during rainbow week. The children are currently being whisked away with the magic of Disney and we have been busy playing games and making masterpieces with our favourite characters from Disneyland! Our planned activities are always on display at our venue so you can keep up to date with what is happening

Wednesday CrossFit

A huge thank you to Frank Brothers Fitness who are undertaking CrossFit every Wednesday for children aged 8 and above.

The children are loving being involved and taking part in the fantastic fitness activities that Grant and the team deliver.

The programme provided by Franks Brothers Fitness is not only fun for the children, but great for their fitness!

If your child would like to take part, please ask one of the Busy Bumbles staff for a Permission Slip.

Birthday” to all children who have had, or are due to have their Birthday this term.

WHATS COMING UP

Our final four weeks before our Holiday Progamme starts will see us messing with monsters as we tread into dangerous territory designing and creating our own mysterious creatures! Get the chance to use paint, glue and all things sticky to make your very own monster to take home, play lots of monster themed games and have a go at trying to pin the eye on Mike!

Remember to bring your togs if the weather gets hot so we can enjoy getting out in the sun.

Week 8 will see us having heaps of fun outside as we enter Outdoor games week and for those who prefer arts and crafts we will be making nature pictures, pet rocks and designing our own playground!

Hoping that the sun comes to visit us, week 9 is water week where we will be getting outside and wet with water. Water balloons, relays, sponge toss and much more – Remember to bring a change of clothes and togs!

Last (but of course not least!) week 10 is Christmas week where we will be getting into the festive spirit as the countdown really begins! Salt dough ornaments, Christmas crafts and get the chance to turn staff into snowmen!

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

As always we had a fun-packed and busy holiday programme. Two weeks of games, crafts, playing and making new friends. We kick started holiday programme with a Minecraft day which was a popular favourite for many. The children participated in making their own 3D minecrafts figures, dressing up as Steve and getting to make and eat a Minecraft mallow pop! This week also saw the children visiting Tothills Maze where they split off into groups to complete the challenges. Getting lost was exciting and those who stayed at the venue had the chance to learn lots of different games and had fun with magical bubbles. The X-factor was another favourite and the children loved getting the chance to audition to be presenters, rehearsing routines and visiting hair and makeup to create their popstar look. We ended week one with a very sunny Rugby world cup day. A day of teamwork, determination and playing touch rugby allowed groups to win points for their team. Funnily enough it was the New Zealand All Blacks team who won our very own mini world cup day too!

Week two was a further success and the children had the opportunity to get creative with clay. We had dogs, cats and all sorts of interesting characters in our venue that day! Our trip this week was to Caddyshack City where the children got to play some mini golf and catch up with friends from other venues. Our younger children also got to dress up as something beginning with ‘B’ for a day of ‘B’ fun whilst our older children celebrated wacky Wednesday with all things a bit weird and wonderful. Our Inside Out day was also popular as we engaged in an emotional rollercoaster of activities – nail art, stress balls and hexaflexagons! Finally we ended our holiday programme with a PARTY! We played party games, made balloon animals and enjoyed stuffing our faces with fairy bread and crisps!



VENUE NEWS We have very exciting times ahead in Rolleston!

We are thrilled to be opening our 8th Venue on the 1st February 2016 at the new West Rolleston School.

In doing so, we will be moving our Clearview children to the new West Rolleston Venue which will dramatically lower current numbers at our Rolleston Venue. In turn, this will also allow us to continue to accept enrolments as we were fast approaching the stage where we would have to turn families away due to being at capacity!

Staff Changes:

We were sorry to see Martha leave our Rolleston venue this term as she moved on to the position of Assistant Supervisor at the Templeton venue. Congratulations Martha, our loss was Templeton’s gain :o)

As our roll at Rolleston continues to grow, so does our staff ! This term we have welcomed Olivia Kennedy, Caitlin Iles and Leigh Thrupp who are now part of our permanent Rolleston team. We have also welcomed Brittany Lewthwaite, Bridget McLean, Lisa Bowater and Teah Ututaonga to our team of wonderful relievers.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Georgia Floris and Kate Lewer who have kindly filled the void to allow us the time to find the most dedicated and caring group of carers to join our team.

POEM OF THE MONTH

Milk and Cookies for Santa

There's milk and cookies for Santa, And they look delicious to me.

There are four on a plate on the mantel, And if I eat one, there will still be three.

Santa's quite a plump fellow, Looks like he eats well all year through.

If I eat one more of those cookies, Santa will still have two.

Those cookies have made my mouth dry, And now I need something to drink.

That milk is still quite chilly, A few gulps will do it, I think.

Those cookies were oh so tasty. I don't think my tummy's quite done.

If I only eat one more cookie, Santa surely can get by with just one.

That last cookie looks so lonely, He must miss his friends in my tummy.

I'm not sure that I can resist him... No, I can't, and he's certainly yummy!

Uh-oh, Santa's treat is all gone now. If I'm caught, I will be in big trouble.

I need to beat feet from the scene of my crime,

And get back into bed on the double!
