We welcome everyone including those who are single, married, divorced, crying newborns, tired parents, and doting grandpar-ents. We welcome those who are “just browsing” and those who know every hymn and praise song ever written. We welcome those who think the earth is flat, can’t spell, or because grandma is in town—you wanted to go to church. You have found a per-

fectly imperfect church filled with perfectly imperfect people who worship our perfect Lord. First time guests - please pickup a welcome gift at the welcome desk in the lobby. Once again, welcome!

Strategies for Staying Well: One of the best ways to combat isolation and loneliness is to build some time into your caregiving routine to focus on yourself. There are ways to reconnect to the people and activi-ties that help restore your sense of connection and contentment .

Periods of respite: Periods of respite care can allow a caregiver to focus on their own personal needs with-out worrying about the safety of their loved one. Res-pite services are typically available from home care agencies, or local programs, such as your local Area Agency on Aging. You may also find friends and family are able to assist you in caregiving duties from time to time, allowing you the time to focus on your own well-being.

Finding Support: While others, may not seem to un-derstand what you’re going through, there are people in similar situations feeling the same way. The support group at Hudson First United Methodist Church will help you find common ground with caregivers in simi-lar situations and offer a feeling of community in the midst of your isolation.

Maintaining Your Sense of Self: Use the time that you do have for yourself to participate in activities that help you feel renewed. Attending church service, exer-cise, taking a walk, involvement in your own interests may help you feel connected to your sense of self and help keep you in touch with your friends and loved ones.

Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you . 1 Peter 5:7

Caregiver's Support Group meets every 3rd Tuesday at 10:30 AM, please contact, Laura Arnold: [email protected] 727-863-0176 or 727-808-2053

MORE ZUMBA!! Wednesdays, 6pm Howard Hall

Summer will be here before we know it! That means travel for some, easier schedule for others, and warm temperatures for EVERYONE! Summer is also a time when people experiment with a variety of activities and ministries. In the Worship Arts ministry, we are offering a few things for those who may wish to play, sing, or ring during the summer. We invite you to join us for some “Summer Fun” as we prepare to lead worship in new and exciting ways! Below is a brief list of ways you can participate!

Voices of Praise Summer Choir – We will meet in the choir room at 6PM on Wednesday evenings for about an hour. We will look at simple anthems and songs and lead worship on Sunday mornings. Call Darrell at 727-483-2835

Beginning Handbell Choir – Joanne Kelly, our hand-bell director, will lead a summer program for those wishing to try handbells for the first time. Call Jo-anne Kelly at 727-858-0700 to get started!

Hudson Winds and Strings – directed by Don Word, this instrumental group will be meeting before wor-ship on Sunday mornings to play the hymns and songs with congregational singing, etc. Perhaps you’d like to dust off your tuba or viola…give Don a call at 727-641-4364.

Finally, maybe you have a background in dance or theatre…this Summer would be an awesome time to share those gifts in worship. Whatever your interest, we can make it happen. Worship is our corporate gift of praise to God. Sharing that with you this sum-mer would be such fun! Give us a call and let’s get started!!

Missions News by Ed Youngs

The Encouragers by Ruth Lott and Betsy Triznadel

The Encouragers ministry began in September 2016. The purpose is to provide caring support for those dealing with grief or loss caused by illness, death, divorce, relocation, job termination, etc.

The group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 10am in Room CE10 at the church. Our goal is to offer support to others so that we may all grow through the experience of grief, live fulfilled lives and reach out to help others who are struggling with similar issues.

Our meetings generally last between one to one-and-a-half hours, begin with a hymn, followed by a short devotion and prayer. The programs vary ena-bling us to offer different topics and formats to ap-peal to all. We review books, DVDs and have guest speakers based on needs and interests expressed by the participants.

At present we are reviewing "Experiencing Grief" by H. Norman Wright. We are very blessed to have tal-ented members in our church family willing to lead various sessions. This gives us a better understand-ing and provides different perspectives. Time is al-lotted for questions and discussion by the partici-pants. Specific concerns and problems are frequent-ly brought to the attention of the group. Resources, suggestions and experiences are shared. Whatever is said in the group is CONFIDENTIAL and stays within the group. It is our prayer that comments are given and received in the spirit of caring and Christian love, and that offense is not taken.

We are very fortunate and blessed to have a number of qualified professionals in our church family to whom we may go for consultation. This is done on behalf of the participants and with their knowledge. These include the Pastor, the Parish Nurse, the Ste-phen Ministry, the Program Director and faith based nurses who volunteer as consultants within our group. Betsy and I will always be available if there is something you would like to discuss with us in pri-vate. We will listen, pray with and always try to help in any way that we can, but please remember we are not counselors.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

ATTENTION STUDENTS! FALL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE! First time and scholarship renewal applications, accompa-nied by a current tran-script, are due June 17th! Your church fami-

ly would love to help you pay those college bills, but you must apply. Applicants must be active church members. The necessary forms are found on the church website www.hudsonfirstumc.org under “Forms”.

More from Nancy… LITTLE IS MUCH

I like the hymn, “Little Is Much When God Is In It”. It may be a hymn that you haven’t heard before. It talks about God using what little we have and making it into much more when we give it to Him. It reminds me of the boy in John 6:9 who gave his lunch to Jesus, who then used it to feed thousands.

You may be aware that HFUMC operates a thrift store throughout the week. What you might not know is where the profits go. Thanks to Carol Jackson, Robin Ames, and all the amazing volunteers who help, the profits for the Thrift Store have been growing each year. In 2017, the store made a profit of $40,399 after expenses. That is a lot of money for nickel and dime items! Having the additional storage shed has increased profits because they can now sell furni-ture too. The thrift store has a board that decides how the money will be used. Here is the breakdown for last year:

Food Pantry $10,100 Pastor’s Discretionary Fund $2,020 Missions $6,060 General Church Fund $12,120 Thrift Store Repair Fund $10,099

The Thrift Store Repair Fund is saved for repairs that may need to be done to the store. Recently, because there is enough in the fund and no large expenditures in the foreseeable future, the board voted to donate $6,400 to help with the costs of renovating the church lobby.

So, as you clean out closets and bring your gently used items into the thrift store, remember that God is using those items to help the church in many areas. Thanks to those who donate time and items to keep the thrift store running, and a special thanks to Carol and Robin for the countless hours they put into the ministry. It appears that 2018 will have even an even larger profit than 2017, which means more resources to carry on the ministries of the church.

As coordinator of the Pictorial Direc-tory I would like to thank all that par-ticipated in having their pictures taken and hope that you are enjoying the com-plimentary picture as well as those you may have purchased. We had a good re-sponse with a little over 250 individuals and families signing up.

I would like to also thank all the volun-teers that helped in the following ways, sign up on Sundays, reminder telephone calls, hosts and hostesses on the day of the picture taking and to Martha and her crew who helped set up Howard Hall for the photographers, Kristie for providing lists and labels, and Donna Martin for handing out the complimentary pictures that where sent to the church office.

I could not have done this job without all your help. The directories will be handed out sometime in July and the snow birds will get theirs when they return.

Thank you and God Bless you all.
