Welcome to worship! As the world prepares for egg hunts and waits for spring sales, we invite you to discover the deeper meaning of Easter. Whether you can quote Luke’s account of the resurrection or think that Easter morning is when a rabbit looks for his shadow, this is the place where you can find a faith that makes a difference. So bring your hopes and fears, doubts and faith, to a cross filled with God’s love and a tomb emptied as a promise of eternal life. Because He Lives, we can face tomorrow. Once again, welcome!

Pray!

By the work one knows the workman. —La Fontaine

Father, please work Your will in my life so that others will see You as the Workman. Amen.

YOU SAW HER AGAIN TODAY

"She's going through such a hard time," you thought. " Too bad no one is there for her." First United Methodist Church of Hudson can be there for her.

A Stephen Minister would like to visit, listen , and care for your friend...talk with one of our leaders: Yvonne Noel, Paulette Wetmore, Tom Meier, or Dave Viall. Please remember to notify the church whenever you or a loved one is hospitalized locally so visitation can be made by Pastor Jeffrey or a Stephen Minister.

SERMON NOTES—3/17/19

“IS OUR FAITH SERIOUS?”

Luke 13:1-5 (NKJV)

13 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with

their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than

all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than

all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (NKJV)

12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will

become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of

what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is

burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

A DEVOTION FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

by TerryTeykl

(I hope you find the devotion helpful as we seek to spend time with our Heavenly Father and reflect on the sacrifice and promise of Jesus.)

GOD’S PROMISE Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! —2 Corinthians 5:17

WORSHIP HIM Read Psalm 150 out loud.

PRAYER Lord, it is so amazing that when we accept Jesus, you somehow make us completely new from the inside out. I am not the same person that I used to be. Since I am the only Bible someone might ever see, fill me with your Holy Spirit so that your Presence shines through me. My life is a living gospel; let it be true to your holiness and grace. Let my speech and conduct be like Jesus in every way. Oh God of distinctions and revelations, I want to be a showcase of heaven on earth. Even now, come Lord Jesus. Amen. —2 Corinthians 5:17; Revelation 21:5; Romans 8:29; John 3:30

LISTEN Be still and wait on the Lord for a specific direction to pray.

FAITH BUILDER When I was pastoring, our church received recognition for our implementation of the Evangelism Explosion program in Mexico. We were invited to fly several of our staff members and leaders to Florida to receive the award personally from James Kennedy, author of the EE material. When Dr. Kennedy greeted us in his office, one of my church leaders, to my surprise, remarked that he really wasn’t sure if he was saved. Without batting an eye, Dr. Kennedy shared the gospel with him using the EE method, and Don received Christ right there!

Lent has begun and Easter is only six weeks away. Once again we are going to have Mums beautify our chancel area for Easter Sunday. If you wish to give a plant/s in memory or honor of a loved one or friend, you will have the opportunity to do so again this Easter. The cost will be $13.50 per plant. Envelopes will be available at all entrances to the church as well as at the church office. Return the envelope by placing in the offering plate or to the church office. The deadline to place your order will be Sunday, April 14, 2019. Thank you. —Worship Team
