Children In Need- Pudsey Storytime comes to Tottenham!

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONIt’s Christmas-time in the Stanton family house: presents, carol singing, good cheer. But for eleven-year-old Will Stanton something sinister has begun, inching around his subconscious, shouting silent warnings he can’t decipher. Then on Midwinter Day Will wakes up to a differentworld – silent, covered in snow and ancient forest, a world of another time. A world where evil lurks. Because Will is Not the ordinary boy he always thought he was. He is the last of the Old Ones and the power to vanquishthe evil magic of the Dark lies within him.

Christmas Jumper Day

Children may wear a Christmas jumper on Wednesday 19th December for a small donation of £1.00 which will go to Save The Children charity.

Children may also have a Christmas meal provided by the school on Wednesday 19th December. If your child is on packed lunch and you would like for them to have a school meal this day, please pay £2.00 to the office by Wednesday 12th December.

National Breakfast ProgrammeOur school has joined government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast.

As an NSBP School we are pleased to offer a healthy school breakfast, available to all to enjoy the benefits this brings. Children will be settled and ready to learn at the start of the school day.

Begins 8th January 2019 at 8:45am in your child’s classroom

Anti Bullying WeekAnti bullying was a week full of joy because everyone was enjoying it. Senior prefects Ade, Sarah, Bonnie and Sahra came round to classes to teach and remind everyone that we should respect each other instead of bullying.

Odd socks day also took place on Monday 12th November. Did you bring odd socks? Congratulations to the lucky winners who had brilliant socks. ‘We love that you all brought amazing socks to show that we are all different and we should respect that.’ - Senior Prefects.

Remember: if someone is bullying you, or if you know of someone who is being bullied, you must inform your teacher.

Year 1 Pirate Treasure HuntYear 1 got to meet a pirate this week where they engaged in an immersive storytelling session. Children were asked to imagine a pirate journey and later describe what they saw in a writing workshop.

School Council As school council, our role is to make our school a better place and we also try to raise money for charities. We decided to raise money for Guide Dogs because the dogs cost around £55,000. Unfortunately, sometimes people can’t afford a guide dog and we wanted to help them. At International evening, we managed to raise £250 to help people who can’t afford a guide dog. Many charities were suggested by school council members and the charity which gained the most votes was Guide Dogs.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDING INFORMATION:Home time arrangements

Year 6: If your child is in Y6 they can walk home alone from school providing you have signed the correct permission slip. However, if we discover that a child behaves inappropriately or unsafely on the way home you will be notified and permission to walk home alone may be withdrawn. Children in Y6 will not be permitted to collect younger siblings in the school.

Years 1 to 6: If an adult (over the age of 18) is not able to collect your child every day, you must inform the school office to make an appointment to discuss this with the Head Teacher.

Nursery and Reception: Children in Nursery and Reception must be collected by a responsible adult that is known to the staff. If there is a change of adult you must let the school know and a password must be provided which must be stated at point of collection. In the interest of keeping our children safe please note that sometimes there may be a delay in releasing a child from class whilst we make sure the adult is who they say they are.

PendarrenPendarren House Outdoor Education Centre is a large country house set on the side of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The 16acre site lites in the Grwyne valley with stunning views across the Usk valley.Pendarren House is owned and maintained by Haringey Council and for 40 years has been providing residential, adventurous and environmentaloutdoor education courses to the young people of Haringey. I foundorienteering the best, because I had to work with a partner. I enjoyed itbecause it was fun and I had to use my eagle eyes to find the shapes andmemorise the whole key and my north direction. After, it was easy because wehad to find the red and white little square with my partner (who was supersmart). We had to use a map because some of the squares did not have numbers, just pictures and shapes. - Koral Y6 Niagara

Pendarren was a as nice as a cake with a cherry on top - a brilliant place to go to with my class. The best activity I did was the orientation and the horse riding. I liked it because I got to know how to ride horses and tame them like a wild dog (they were not that wild). I got ‘Kasper’, a greyish-white horse that was

really good at listening. He was so smart you could see him on Britain's Got Talent. - Corneille Y6 Mississippi

The intrepid adventure started like this. When we arrived at the stable,we had to get the right size helmets and wait outside. We got brooms to clean the given horses. After we finished, we had to go to the leaderand put the saddles onto the horses.

After that, we had to line up in heightorder (ascending order). It was like climbing a mountain but with a bitof determination we got on. The smallest horse was Rosie and the tallestone was called Mazz. It was a bit difficult getting on but we did it.

When everyone got on their horses wehad to go around the area. After wegot the idea, we had to say some factsthat were given about our horse
