Our volunteers really rock!

When I leave school I skip all the way home. When I get home I change into my training clothes and put on my new runners. I like to wear my TRYathlon top. I go with my mum to the Mooloolaba boardwalk and run from the bubbler at one end to

If you were to choose what you would eat for the rest of your life would it be a diet of fruit, vegetables and proteins or would it be chocolate, sugary lollies and greasy fish and chips?

I would definitely choose a diet of healthy foods for as long as I live. Why you may ask? Did you know that if you eat healthy

As this is two kilometres sometimes we walk. We see lots of other people training for other marathons and triathlons as well.

Sometimes I put my helmet on and go for a ride to the park. When we get there we leave my bike at the big seat and then run from tree to tree. Then I ride my bike home.

One Day I fell off my bike and got a big graze on my leg, but it has gone now.

I feel happy and emotional because I am happy. That is why I train. I like to collect medals. It's really good to train. I like to be fit and healthy.

How I Train

Inspirational Weet-Bix KIDS

Why I TRY ?

By Sanitarium

By Claire McCulloch (9) Immanuel Lutheran College

By Caitlin Memory (7) Ipswich Girls Grammar

By Erin Lowry (10) Sacred Heart Sandgate

I TRY because it's fun and my focus is solely on my own race, I love swimming and riding (not so much the running . . Yet!) and seeing my friends and family's support as I cross the finish line.

I TRY because I can. I am in remission for a brain tumor that made me grow very tall very fast and am now on full pituitary hormone replacement medication. My body is unique and my running groove is my own.

I TRY because it's not about winning, it's about being the best you can be and having fun!

My name is Caitlin Memory, I am 7 years old. The way I train is I do two swim squad sessions with school a week. I am also a member of BOSS Mult i -Sport Tr iathlon C lub and we train on Tuesday and Saturday with Coach Bec and

Danny. Tuesday i s a b r i ck session which is only the ride and run. Saturday we usually do one triathlon and the rest is training for all three sports. My favourite leg to train for is the swim because I love water and I 'm good at swimming. When I grow up I want to be a professional triathlete!

try.weetbix.com.au trystars.com.au

I think it is fun because I get to ride my bike, run and swim. My inspirational advice would be: “Never give up.” Stella Kay (10yrs)

I like to compete in triathlons because I like the exercise, as it keeps me healthy and fit. My inspirational advice would be: “You can do it. It’s not hard, it’s

fun!” Oscar Kay (8yrs)

I came here today to compete because I think it is very exciting to join in. My inspirational advice would be: “It’s really fun, you should give it a go!” Olivia Chamberlain (8yrs)

"It's my first time. I wanted to give it a go. It doesn’t matter how fast you are, just give it a go!" Thomas McKenzie (7yrs)

Provide healthy snacks such as fruit to re-fuel their energy during the day (e.g. school sports day), or after they have finished their activity.

Encourage your child to drink plenty of water. Being excited about their sport, they may need a little extra reminder! Encourage your child to eat breakfast everyday, even if they are a bit nervous or excited about the day ahead – it will provide energy to kick off the day full of life!

Having a healthy eat ing plan for your active child will also help them to stay alert and attent ive dur ing the i r schoolwork.

Exercise and sport are an important part of the day for many kids, and providing nutritious, energy-rich meals and snacks is important.

Eating well will help them stay healthy and perform at their best.

Base main meals around wholegrain breads and cereals (e.g. Weet-Bix), pasta, rice, with plenty of vegetables, legumes and fruits to make them colourful and nutrient-rich. Eating a nutritious meal the night before, will help energy levels for the following day.

THE OLYMPIC DREAM - Aaron Royle

Name: Aaron RoyleNickname: BugsAge: 26Born: Newcastle, NSWFirst Triathlon: 13First Tri Club: Maitland

Australia’s latest Olympic triathlete who was inspired by the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Aaron has qualified for the Australian team to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

My name is Aaron Royle and I am a Triathlete. I’ve never been to an Olympics Games but I did compete in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Games where I finished 8th in the individual and 3rd in the mixed relay. I was also 2012 U/23 ITU World Champion.

I grew up in Newcastle and Lived there until I was 18 when I moved to Wollongong to train under my coach Jamie Turner and the squad he had developed then. Nowadays I spend my time between Wollongong and Falls Creek during our summer and Spain during the European Summer.

First TriathlonTriathlon started for me at

about the age of 13 years old. My swim coach at the time,

who participated in age group races, suggested that I give one a go. The closest Tri club was Maitland Triathlon club, so dad and I drove the 30 minutes from Newcastle to Maitland one Sunday morning to give it a go. I had no idea what I was doing, but I had a blast. I was a swimmer who ran well so those two were fine and what kid doesn’t love riding their bike? So those 3 added together was a new level of awesomeness! Yes I did win it but to be honest I was competing against people who were even younger than I was and just as inexperienced.

Other sportsWhen I was younger I played

just about all ‘popular’ sports that many Aussie kids play these days. Cricket, Swimming, Soccer, Running, Football to name a few. It was quickly established that anything that involved a ball or any hand-eye coordination wasn’t really my strong point. Triathlon was the perfect sport for me.

Wishing you all a day filled with fun and fitness – I’ll be cheering for you!

I hope you will follow my Olympic journey and cheer me on in Rio.

Some athletes TRY their hardest and that leads to s u d d e n v i c t o r y b u t s o m e athletes give up and that leads to sudden death.

Most kids are easily bribed with lol l ies or money. The athletic type is bribed with being able to swim, cycle or run. They TRY their absolute hardest, push to their limits and show their wild side because they want to do their personal best so badly.

Athletic kids TRY so hard and dream of finishing their race followed by the trophy, standing on the winner’s stage, flowers, ribbons, cheering and signing their signature. TRYing is what gets you to the winning circle or the personal accomplishment of finishing the triathlon.

A l l k i d s l o v e f i n i s h i n g something, winning is a bonus but no doubt the ultimate aim, and TRYing is one of the major contributing factors in getting you there.

After all, where would the Weetbix Kids Tryathlon be without kids TRYing?

I had to wait with my media pass until most of the races had finished before I could go over and meet Sarah.

I had prepared 8 questions but only could ask three. I didn't know there would also be two other triathletes plus a professional swimmer.
