Thanks to Carl Dowden for taking notes and photos for this week's newsletter.

Our speaker for today was our own Bernard H. "Bud" Weaver, Jr. As our club Rotary International Foundation chairperson, Bud brought the club up to date about the Foundation. Polio eradication in the world is still a major concern and focus of the Foundation. There are only two countries where polio is active, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Clean drinking water and improved sanitary conditions are the new initiatives of the Foundation. These new initiatives will help keep polio and other diseases at bay.

Previously it was mentioned that there is a change to Rotary's Every Rotarian Every Year. It was thought that every Rotarian would have to become a sustaining member (donate at least $100 per year) for our club to meet this goal. Bud contacted a representative at the RI Foundation and they were not aware of this new requirement. Bud is looking into this further and will let us know.

Bud reported that according to Rotary International records donations from our club members is quite low to date. Bud encouraged our members to begin making your donations to the

Foundation now rather than waiting until June 2016. If you donate $10 to $20 per month you will easily become a sustaining member of the Foundation by the end of this Rotary year. Some club members are very close to obtaining their first Paul Harris Fellowship and others are close to moving to the next level. Contact Bud to find out your level on contributions.

Every member is supposed to go to rotary.org/myrotary to view their profile and learn about Rotary. You can also make a donation to the Rotary Foundation from your MyRotary account. It is easy to set up your account. You need your Rotary member number that can be found on the mailing label of The Rotarian magazine.
