Beloved Brothers and Sisters of Saint George Church –
I’m writing today in this space, as I will occasionally, to share with you, thoughts from the Parish Council, and our mission and vision, as you’ve entrusted us to do. You deserve to hear from us. I will also use this space to communicate important decisions we’ve made and continue with the spirit of transparency for all.
First, I’d like you to know that the Parish Council, in unison with Father Fouad Saba, take our responsibilities as stewards of this wonderful parish very seriously. I’d also like you to know that everything we do will be done with love and positive intent. I’m quite confi dent we will be successful a majority of the time. However, there will be times we make decisions that don’t turn out the way we intended. Hopefully those are not frequent, but when they do occur, know that we entered into those decisions with a loving heart and good intentions, that as needed, we will also move as quickly as we can to correct them.
Our vision for the Church is forward-looking. We are putting together a 3/5/10 year plan. We will actively reach out to everyone, whether you’re currently attending Saint George Church or not. We look forward to everyone being actively engaged in the parish life. It will take the entire parish to make our long-term plans successful. You all belong! Saint George Church is your Church. The Parish Council members are your elected and appointed representatives to work with Father Saba to not only make sure we are addressing the current needs of the Church, but also focusing on a visionary path to long-term growth which will continue to sustain Saint George Church for generations to come.
With that, I ask that you pray for the entire Parish Council every Sunday, that we may be steadfast and successful in our positive pursuit for the well-being and best interests of this God-fi lled parish.
Yours in Christ,
Michael MoukheiberMichael MoukheiberParish Council Chairman

Paul to Saint Timothy (3:10-15)Paul to Saint Timothy (3:10-15)Timothy my son, you have observed my
teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, and my sufferings; and what befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra. What persecutions I endured; yet from them all, the Lord rescued me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank Thee that I am not like other men, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

THE SYNAXARIONOn February 9th in the Holy Orthodox Church, we take leave of the celebration of the Meeting (Presentation)
of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ in the Temple. On this day, we commemorate the Martyr Nikephoros of Antioch; Hieromartyrs Markellos, bishop of Sicily, Pankratios, bishop of Taormina, Philagrios, bishop of Cyprus; and the translation of the relics of Innocent, first bishop of Irkutsk.
On the Sunday which falls during the After-feast of the Presentation (Meeting) of our Lord, we commemorate the Holy and Righteous Mothers of the Three Hierarchs: Emmelia (Basil the Great), Nona (Gregory the Theologian) and Anthousa (John Chrysostom).
On this day, we make remembrance of the Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican, which occurs in the Holy Gospel according to Luke the Evangelist.
If you resemble the Pharisee, run far away from the Temple; For inside is Christ before Whom only the humble are acceptable.
O Creator of everything heavenly and earthly, receive Thou from the Angels a Trinitarian song,And from us men a noble and reverent Triodion.
In our Savior’s parable, Jesus uses a Pharisee, a leader of the synagogue, who was regarded in public opinion as virtuous; and a publican, a tax collector, who was regarded as oppressive, greedy and a sinner. In their prayers to God, we discover the real hearts of these two men. We thus learn of the harm that comes from pride and the good that comes from humility. The divine Church Fathers sought to alert prepare the Christ-loving clergy and laity for the upcoming period of the Great Fast. Therefore, on this Sunday we are reminded that humility is the greatest weapon against pride, as we imitate the humility of the publican to ascend to the divine heights.
Through the intercessions of the wonderworking Saints, O Christ our God, have mercy upon us and save us. Amen.
POST-COMMUNION HYMN: “We have seen the true light.”

Thank you for considering off ering the Holy Bread. These guidelines were approved by both Father Saba and the Anti ochian Women.
The Holy Bread Ministry is designed for the purpose of Off ering that which becomes the Body and Blood in the Divine Liturgy. Christ Himself, who unites us, is the center of our off ering! Giving Holy Bread to be used in the Liturgy is an Off ering of oneself to God.
• Holy Bread (10 loaves minimum) needs to be at the Church a day or two before the Liturgy at which the Holy Bread is used. Bring on Saturday night or at least two hours before Liturgy begins (8:30 am on Sundays).
• Names to be remembered during the preparati on of the bread in the Altar before Liturgy are to be emailed to the Church Offi ce by the Wednesday before the Sunday Liturgy.
• Family should be present at the Divine Liturgy when off ering Holy Bread to worship God and off er prayers on behalf of their loved ones.

Thank you for considering sponsoring Saint George Church Coff ee Hour. Your generosity is truly appreciated. These guidelines were approved by both Father Saba and the Anti ochian Women.
The Coff ee Hour Ministry is designed for the purpose of camaraderie a er the Divine Liturgy. Christ Himself, who unites us, is the center of Coff ee Hour – not the snack selecti ons! Simplicity is the rule. At every Coff ee Hour, a theme will be distributed to all the tables for all to discuss.
The Coff ee Hour Ministry TEAM will do the following:
1. Purchase simple snacks to be served during Coff ee Hour.
2. Ensure that Coff ee Hour supplies are stocked and available in the storage room/cabinets (coff ee, sugar, cream, plasti c utensils, plates, coff ee cups, napkins & trash bags).
3. Setup before the Divine Liturgy.
4. Ensure that Hall and Kitchen are clean a er Coff ee Hour.
Snacks will be simple and light, and not a brunch or lunch; just a li le something to fuel the conversati on among members, friends, guests and newcomers – the true purpose of Coff ee Hour.
In additi on to regular coff ee, please choose one of the following refreshments:
o Orange Juice o Apple Juice o Iced Tea o Lemonade
Please choose one of the following snack items:
o Cookies o Pastry similar to Cookies o Bananas & Apples
• During fasti ng seasons / Lent, only non-dairy snacks and creamer will be served during Coff ee Hour.
• For birthdays and anniversaries, a cake may be brought in, by the family, and served at 1pm (a er Sunday School).
Please submit names of living and departed loved ones by Wednesday of that week to Church offi ce (offi [email protected]) to be included on the prayer list by Father Saba on that Sunday.
As a guideline, kindly make a $100 donati on to sponsor the Coff ee Hour.
If you would like to be included in the yearly charitable contribu on, please make your check for a total of $125, and $25 will be given to charity by the Anti ochian Women. P S G A W C H M C.
