The camera is the stand in for the audience.
It is the observer of the action.
It creates the spot where the audience
views the story.
The audience will identifies with whoever is centered
or followed in a pan.

The Hitchcock Rule:
The size of the object in the frame should be directly
related to its important to the story at that moment.
The audience will identifies with whoever is bigger in
frame.
Shooting up encouragesthe audienceto identify withthe charactersis superior.
Shooting a down angle seem to indicate more
sympathy and deference.
Increase in shot size generally creates a rise in tension while decrease relaxes our feelings of
participation.
If one character is seen in CU and the other is in a medium shot, our feelings of sympathy /identification is with the figure seen at a
closer distance.
