PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
First of all, we welcome back Mrs. Murray from her honeymoon and thank Mrs. Tran for teaching 2A in her absence.
I will be on leave in Week Ten of this Term and Weeks 1 to 3 of Term Four. In my absence Mr. Jones will be relieving Princi-
pal. Ms. Smith will replace Mr. Jones on his class and Mrs. Colquhoun and Ms Horobin will share the duties of Stage 3 Supervi-
sor.
Mrs. Sernig will be on leave for the first three weeks of Term Four and Mrs. Combe will be replacing her on class. Mrs. Tran
will replace Mrs. Combe on Ms. Mizzi’s class on a Friday during this time. Mrs. Tome will undertake the role of Stage 1 Super-
visor in her absence.
Mrs Dunbar is on leave from Wednesday, 9th September until the end of term and Mrs Tran is taking her place. At the start of
term 4 Mrs Lobina is on leave for the first two weeks and Mrs Tran will be replacing her as the class teacher
Congratulations to our Southern Stars performers who performed so well. The show was by all accounts an excellent production
and our students did the school and themselves proud.
At Lindsay Park we are very proud of our students and we value their input into the successful operation of the school. As an
example, the SRC through Neve Walker determined that the students in Years 5 and 6 should participate in a first aid course.
Therefore, in Week Ten our senior students will be involved in an emergency care course provided by St. Johns Ambulance.
This is a very worthwhile and positive initiative that we are happy to support.
Recently we notified the parents of the students in Year 6 of their participation in the Middle Childhood Survey. The following
link provides additional information:
http://nsw-cds.com.au/parents-caregivers
For those students who are participating in the survey they will undertake it next week.
Whilst on surveys, the parent ‘Tell Them From Me Survey’ is currently open. The survey compliments the student engagement
survey and I would ask that you take the time to complete it online. The students will complete the next survey in this series
during the last week of this Term. A note concerning this will be sent home early next week. The link for the parent survey is:

The Kindergarten enrolment program is well underway for 2016 and we are currently organizing the orientation program for our
new students. I would ask that if you have not yet returned the orientation program slip you do so this week.
I have included in this edition of the Tallong, as part of the continuing series on programs that operate at Lindsay Park, infor-
mation concerning the Better Buddies Program. This was written by Emerson Marr one of our Year 6 students.

Better Buddies
Better buddies is an amazing program where the year 6 students help the kindergartens to settle into primary school
and help make new friends. This year most of the year 6’s got two kinder buddies to help make new friends and settle
into primary school. We enjoyed doing lots of fun things like painting, computers and sport together. The Better
Buddies Benches have helped the stage 1 children to make new friends and become more social and interactive with-
out the help of the teachers. The Better Buddies program also has a lovable purple bear as it’s mascot. Before the
year sixes gets their Buddies they write a card saying information about themselves. On the front of the card is the
Better Buddies mascot that the years sixes have drawn themselves for their Buddies. The card is then given to the
parents of the stage 1 child o that the parents can then read it out loud to their child. It has been said that the parents
enjoyed this interesting card very much. So, the Better Buddies Program is a great program for both the kindies and
year 6 students and is highly loved at our school.
This year we brought in two purple buddy benches. One for the K-2 playground and one for the Year 3 – 6 play-
ground. The purpose of the Buddy Bench is to eliminate loneliness and foster friendships in the playground. It is used
to help children who feel left out or lonely. The benches are making the playground a whole lot friendlier. Two
friends sitting on the Bench can turn to one another and invite each other to play. Students are encouraged to be pro-
active on the Buddy Bench by thinking about what they would like to do at lunchtime or to look around to see if you
can join in somewhere.
Other children who are playing are encouraged to look around from time to time to see if there is someone they could
invite from the bench to play. The Buddy Bench is a positive place where friendships are encouraged. Students who
choose to sit there are made to feel welcome and included.
