Heartbeats from your priest Fr Eduardo
As Eastertide continues, we can take fresh heart that we are part of God’s glorious plan to bring about a new creation. Jesus’s new commandment to love one another as he loves us is the key to transforming the world.
Word of God in a Nutshell: We have to persevere in faith and undergo hardships to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus’ message is clear - our identity card as His disciples is the love we bear for one another. No amount of prayers, pious practices or elaborate liturgies will serve to identify us as His disciples.
In God’s eyes, we are his children, so our identity is in Him and with Him.
Along the journey of life in this world, we only make progress as we open our hearts to God - to faith, to mercy, to the power of the Spirit. We cannot transform ourselves, we are called to allow our hearts to be shaped by God ‘s transforming grace. And if we are making genuine progress, there is one thing that will distinguish us more and more from those who have not passed through the “door of faith: LOVE.“ This is how all will know you are my disciples: your love for one another.
Bear in mind that our faith is sterile unless it finds expression in acts of love for our brothers and sisters.
Challenge: Is your love for your brothers and sisters a reflection of God’s love for us—self sacrificing and total?
Thank you everyone for your prayers. I am safely back in the parish and ready to serve you all - my beloved parishioners - in the best way I can. God bless you all.
