WEEK 11 4
Alexandra Secondary College is incredibly proud to announce Megan Gilmore as their Dux for 2019. Megan achieved an ATAR of 88.95. Her excellent VCE results are a reflection of not only her great academic ability but also her dedication and hard work this year and throughout her schooling. Principal Nigel Lyttle said “Megan deserves the great success she has had. She has always been an impressive student academically and a great citizen of our College, who has been involved in programs such as Alice Sloan and the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra. Megan is a fine role model to all junior students aspiring to be successful in VCE, demonstrating that when diligence is matched with ability outstanding results follow”.
Megan studied English, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Psychology this year and Biology last year as an accelerated subject.
Next year Megan plans to Study Advanced-Global Challenges (Honours) at Monash University.
Alexandra Secondary College would like to congratulate all the Year 12’s who
successfully completed their VCE and VCAL certificates in 2019. We wish them all
the very best for their future endeavours.

Principal ’s Report
Our Presentation night on Wednesday night was a fitting climax to our school year. We are proud of all of our students’ successes. Success certainly does not define us but we should take pride in the many shapes it comes and use it to benefit us. Well done to all of our
awardees.
It was quite an honour to have the Ray Weinberg’s family join us at our Presentation night. Weinberg House is named after Ray. They gifted us a framed Olympic pocket of Ray’s, which we will display with pride.
We bid farewell to a handful of staff this year.
Miss Naomi Kenner, is taking a year to travel. Naomi is a fantastic teacher, who has done a wonderful job with the Year 7 Camp and Ski Program. She has promised she’ll return
in 2021.
Mr Ben Stephens has taken up a position at Dromana Secondary College. We wish him
well at his new school.
Miss Lizzie Butcher has taken up a fulltime role as a teacher’s aide at St Marys Primary School. Lizzie has done a wonderful job helping our students and we are sure to
benefit from her work when her new students join us at Secondary College.
Mr Ian Walters will retire at the end of the first week of school next year, after 8 years with us. Ian has done a great job running our IT systems and managing the technical
side of school reporting for us. He leaves big shoes to fill.
These staff have certainly made a positive difference in the lives of many students and we
thank them for their contribution to the College.
We also farewell three special parents, Andrew Walker, Bev Dick and Alison Rouget . Andrew has been on School Council for 6 years. Bev has been on School Council for 4 years and on Parents and Friends for 6 years. Alison has been on School Council for 3 years and on Parents and Friends for 8 years. Each have been selfless in the time they have given our school, and their input and support has been wonderful. We will miss all three and thank them for their great service.
The front office will be open at the College from Tuesday 28th of January. Staff return officially on Tuesday 28th January as well. Year 7 and 12 students start on Wednesday 29th
January. All other students begin the 2020 school year on Thursday 30th January.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and wonderful summer holiday.
