Week 1 – 17th October 2018 Sharing Our News
Welcome back everyone to Term 4. I trust you have had a
wonderful holiday and had some quality time with the family.
This term presents us with lots of amazing opportunities,
classroom assessments and end of year celebrations.
Students in the primary will be participating in stroke
correction swimming classes each Friday as part of their sport
program. Classes will be allocated a 40 minute timeslot and
students will be placed in groups to improve their swimming
ability. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to improve
a lifelong skill and understanding the importance of learning to
swim. The school has subsidised the program. It is expected
that all students will attend the program and if you have any
questions please do not hesitate to call the school on
65722281.
Our school has started its Visible Wellbeing journey at the end
of Term 1 however, it is with great pleasure that we announce
that the Where There's a Will team will be presenting at
Singleton High School on Tuesday 23rd October from 6pm
in the school's MPC. The team will be discussing their journey
on mental health, positive psychology, initiatives and how they
can help our schools and the community achieve a positive
future for our children. A flyer is attached to this week's
newsletter. Please join us and support this wonderful
initiative.
Good luck to our lawn bowls and touch football teams who
compete in the Hunter area finals next Monday and Tuesday.
Both teams have showed strong character throughout the
season and we are positive they will display great teamwork
against their opponents. We look forward to hearing the
results next week.
Planning is already underway for 2019. If you have any
requests for your child please attention an email or letter to
myself by Friday 30th November. The school will try to
accommodate your request where possible.

Our school is nearing completion and over the next two weeks our builders will be adding on the final touches. The canteen block roof will be close to completion by Friday and students will be able to access the canteen for both breaks. Our front office has had a full renovation and relocation of offices. The office will be near completion by early next week. The final step is to re-roof the two sheds near the garden club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank PDA Building, Peter and all of the workers for their outstanding service and work over the past term. Oakvale Farm Excursion
On Wednesday in the last week of Term 3,
Kindergarten students travelled to Oakvale Farm as
part of their Geography unit. All students were very
excited as the boarded the bus on their very first
school excursion. Thankfully, the rainy weather held
off for most of the day.
Throughout the day students went on a tractor ride,
fed baby animals, milked a cow and learnt more
about the habitats of many different animals at the
farm including dingoes, alpacas and various reptiles.
The highlight was patting and learning more about
our mascot Tawny. Thank you to all the parents who
came and helped on the day. It was a fabulous
experience and all students were great
representatives of our school.
Term 3 Rural Fire Brigade Visit
It was fantastic to see all our Stage 2 students so
eager to learn about Rural Fire Service.
Leanne Bell and her Whittingham Rural Fire Brigade
colleague took the time to show our students their
truck and give them hands on learning with the
equipment.
They learnt about emergency plans and general fire
safety as well as all about inside and outside fires.
Thank you Whittingham Rural Fire Service for taking
time out to come and teach us some very important
information.

Talking About Maths – Use The Everyday
Think of a number between 1 and 10.
Now add 4 to your number then add 6 more.
What is your answer?
Okay, now take away 10.
I’m guessing that you have the same number that
you started with.
How did I know that?
