Wednesday’s Weekly Word

The school day at Fonwood Early Childhood Center starts at 7:30 a.m. Students arriving AFTER 8:00 a.m. are considered TARDY. Early attendance is taken at 8:00 a.m. Parents/Guardians of students with excessive absences and tardies will be called in for a meeting with the principal.

Perfect Attendance Incentive

Students who have perfect attendance for the

month of October will receive a Fonwood Lunch

Kit!

Nurses Corner

Flu vaccinations will be provided to students with a signed

permission slip on Monday, October 29, 2018 on the school campus.

teacher will choose a book character for their class to represent.

NO Lunch with Parents on October 26th Lunch with parents will NOT be allowed on these days,

because of the Fall carnival. Lunch with parents will resume, Friday, November 2, 2018.

Scholastic Book Fair Stop by Fonwood ECC

October 18-31, 2018 Below is the classroom book fair schedule

On Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 18th until October

30th parents can send money for their child to purchase books

at the book fair. Teachers will bring students to the book fair on

Tuesday and Thursdays to purchase books at their class

scheduled time. Parents can also purchase books with students

after school during the hours of 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm or during

the Fall Carnival on 10/26 and the storybook parade on 10/31.

What is Red Ribbon Week?

Red Ribbon week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and

violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in

October in the United States. Monday, October 22nd: “Redy” to be drug free-Wear red

Tuesday, October 23rd: Put a “Cap” on Drugs-Wear a Cap

Wednesday, October 24th: “Sock It” to Drugs-Wear Crazy Socks

Thursday, October 25th: “Shade out Drugs” Wear Shades Friday, October 26th: Wear your “Super Heror Costumes” Day

Book Character Parade

All students are encouraged to participate in the Book Character Parade. Teachers will be sending information regarding the book that the class will be using and what the costume should look like. You will be getting more information from your child’s classroom teacher regarding this event, the theme selected and any other details.

Students can only wear the costume chosen by the classroom teacher to represent their book character.

Date: Wednesday, October 31,, 2018 Time: 9 a.m.

Where: Fonwood Cafeteria Parents are invited to come and view the parade!!!

We are seeking parent and student volunteers to help us create our school garden on Saturday, October 27, 2018

from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. If you are available to volunteer for this event please

Day of the carnival = 4 tickets for $1.00

Wristbands = $15.00

(Pre-sale tickets/ wristbands can be purchased

10/8/18 to 10/26/18

Tickets can be used for food and games at the

carnival.

Wristbands include unlimited games, 1 popcorn,

1 hot dog, 1 chip and 1 drink (water or soda)

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Teachers will meet with all parents to talk about their children’s CIRCLE assessment results. Parents will participate in fun math and literacy activities. Parents will be provided with strategies and tools to help support learning at home. *The class with the highest participation will win a pizza party!!! * Student’s that participate in this event will receive a wristband to wear to participate in free dress on Thursday, November 8, 2018!!!
