3.Complete the assigned Seesaw activity ‘Volume: measuring as area times length’. Show your working so we can see your thinking and give you feedback. Remember to submit by Friday!

4.Watch this video to remind yourself of the formula for calculating volume

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0AC7xLi0SM

5.Complete the assigned Seesaw activity ‘Cuboia Volume Challenge’ to practise calculating the volume of rectangular prisms and cubes using the formula.

Fast Finishers and Extension

You can complete the ‘Volume Rectangular Prism’ sheet in your booklet.

Additional /Optional Maths Continue on with the ‘Matharoo’ worded problems found in your Monday and

Tuesday booklet. BRAIN BREAK (5 mins) Create your own language. On a piece of paper write out the alphabet. For each letter you need to create your own symbol. Are you able to write your name in your new language? Or challenge yourself and write out a sentence or two.

HISTORY (40 mins) Who lived here first? You need to do this activity on Seesaw. Watch the video from the Aboriginal Heritage Office that explains the primary sources you studied at last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFPGvV3Kbjs

On Seesaw, look at the pictures and listen to the explanation about the people who lived in Lindfield first. Reflect on what you have learnt about 'who lived here first'. Record what you have learnt, what you already knew and what you wonder about. Use Seesaw or do this reflection in your exercise book.

Lunch LIBRARY

The online catalogue allows you to look up a book in a library by title, author, series or subject and tells you where it would be found. This helps to direct us straight to the books we need, rather than wasting time trying to find the correct shelf by ourselves.

Watch: https://www.youtube.com/embed/PJ3iEWnIrU8

Your task is to:

Open a web browser and log into your Student Portal and click the Oliver Library icon. You will find this under the Email icon on the left-hand menu. If you are on an iPad, you will need to click the Hamburger icon to bring up this menu.

Recess MATHEMATICS (60 minutes) Warm up Complete Set 14.3 or 14.4 (Extension) column of the ‘Maths Mentals’ in your booklet.

Lesson

This week we have been learning about volume and capacity.

On Monday and Tuesday we learnt about the volume of liquids.

On Wednesday and Thursday we learnt about the volume of solid objects in the shape of rectangular prisms and cubes.

BUT … not all solid shapes are a rectangular prism or cube, in fact most are not. How do we measure the volume of irregular shapes?

1.Watch the below videos to find out how.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlNJ_9tdpWI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkA3SY68_Yk

3.In your exercise book, use mathematical language to explain your knowledge of displacement. Explain what was happening in Mr Archimedes bath?

4.How could Mr Archimedes figure out which character had the most and the least volume of all those who were in the bath? Write your answer in your exercise book and explain your thinking.

5. Conduct the Displacement Investigation in your workbook.

Additional / Optional Maths
