LEARNING FROM HOME - WEEK 8, TERM 3 2021 Year 3 Overview Monday 30 August and Tuesday 31 August Good morning Year 3 students, Welcome to Week 8 of at home learning. Again this week there will be 2 booklets. The first one is for Monday and Tuesday. The second one is for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This week we will be having three Zoom sessions with your teachers, one on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Your class teacher will send you the links for these; look out for them in your school email. Remember to bring your prop to Monday’s Zoom lesson for a game of Guess Who. Please only submit the work requested by your teachers on Seesaw. These activities are marked with a star in the overview so you can clearly see which ones to submit. On the last page of this booklet you will find a mini project to complete. Please read the instructions carefully and complete it throughout this week when and if you have time. Please remember to keep all your work together with your booklets. Answers will be sent out each Friday by your class teacher. Good morning Year 3 students,

Welcome to Week 8 of at home learning.

Again this week there will be 2 booklets. The first one is for Monday and Tuesday. The second one is forWednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Independent Reading - ( 20 minutes)

Instructions:

1. This week you have been assigned 2 separate readers.

2. One of these readers you will focus on for Monday and Tuesday and the other reader you

will focus on for Thursday and Friday.

3. Choose which reader you would like to read first and second.

Task(s):

1. Login to the PM website using your same username and password from last week.

2. Your password will be 1234 but you will need to remember your username.

3. Today you are going to independently read your first book all the way through.

4. Spend 20 minutes reading your text today, don’t worry if you don’t finish it, there will be

time for you to do that tomorrow.

adjectives to describe how the bird would be feeling.

4. The middle box is for you to do a little picture of the bird.

SpellingInstructions:

1. Look at the page in your booklet titled ‘Spelling Week 8’.2. This week we are looking at the long ‘A’ sound.3. Think of as many words as you can with this sound and the 4 different spelling patterns.

Challenge yourself to think of words with more than one syllable.

Writing - explanation texts

Look at the page in your booklet titled ‘Writing an explanation’. Have a look at what’s onthat hamburger - don’t forget any of the ingredients.

Task(s):1. Using the pages in your work booklet, complete this task.2. Turn that sample text on how rain forms into a much better example of an

explanation text.

Pay attention to all the ingredients….. There’s some space there for a drawing that showsthe process of rain forming. (maybe like your life cycle diagrams)

Afternoon Visual Arts - Appreciation and Creation

Today we will be appreciating an artwork created by American artist Andy

Warhol and creating our own PopArt artwork.

Task(s):

1. Open the assigned Seesaw activity.

2. Look at the artwork from Andy Warhol and answer the art appreciation questions.

3. Watch the video from Mrs Foreshew and create your own PopArt artwork.

4. Upload a photo of your finished work to the Seesaw activity.

You will need:

● Template from the booklet

● Pencil or artliner (remember to have a piece of scrap

paper underneath if using artliner)

● Bright coloured pencils, textas
