A Powerful Study on the Blessed Mother Begins October 6th

Filmed on location in the Holy Land, Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother will place you in the midst of the powerful drama of Mary’s earthly life, taking you through her joys and her sorrows. You will learn how she works in our lives today, drawing us ever closer to her divine Son. Seeing Mary in this way will change you forever. She will become a part of your daily life and help you to become more like Christ.

Join us for Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother at St. John Vianney in The Upper Room beginning October 6th at 7:30pm and continuing October 13th, 27th, November 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and December 1st. For more information or to register for the study, call Tom or Joanne Bresnan at 732-827-2821 or email [email protected] or [email protected]. Registrations must be in by September 24th, so don't delay.

Do You Want to Read the Bible, but Don’t Know How to Begin? Then Join the Hundreds of your fellow Parishioners who have taken this course!

You will be glad you did!

September: Springtime

for Parish Stewards

Summer’s end brings with it nostalgia for carefree

days, long nights, lazy weekend afternoons,

reunions with families, and summer road trips. But

in our parishes, autumn brings a burst of new life

that makes September feel almost like spring.

Why? For the Christian steward, fall brings a

renewed sense of commitment. This is the time

when we reexamine and reconfirm our stewardship.

If you found yourself away from your parish this

summer – either through neglect or through travel

and visits to other parishes – now is the time to get

reacquainted. Our parish is our primary faith

community, where we build relationships based on

our shared values and sacramental life, and

September is a wonderful time to come “home” to

that community.

SJV PARISH MUM SALE Flowers will be for sale after all Masses the

weekend on 9/27 and 9/28.

Music Ministry News

Welcome to the music ministry section of the St. John Vianney parish bulletin. I hope you find the following information on the different choirs helpful and informative. If you have ever thought of joining one (Or more) of our choirs I encourage you to join this fall as our groups get into full swing for the 2014-2015 choir season.

Adult Choir This group is open to all adults as well as high school students!! We meet each Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. The Adult Choir sings most Sundays at the 9:00 Am mass and occasionally at the 10:45 Am mass. The Adult Choir also sings for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, The Easter Vigil and several other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Our Adult Choir did an outstanding job last season enhancing our weekend liturgies as well as enhancing special celebrations and most importantly our Parish Advent/Christmas Concert held last December, as well as our Parish Lenten Concert held in March. Our first rehearsal for the new season will be on Wednesday September 24th at 7:30 Pm in the church. New members are always welcome and encouraged to attend!

Children’s Choir This group did an amazing job enhancing liturgies last season! The choir even met during the summer to sing at the 10:45 mass this past July! I am especially grateful for all the students who are willing to cantor during the masses! It takes much effort to sing in front of an entire church full of people! Our children are very talented and do a great job leading the singing. The Children’s Choir generally meets for practice on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 Pm to 5:00 Pm in the church. The Children’s Choir generally sings on the second Sunday of Each Month at the 9:00 Am Mass as well as on the fourth Sunday of each month at the 10:45 Am Mass! Our first practice for the new season will be on Tuesday September 16th from 4:00 to 5:00 Pm in the church. We will sing on Sunday September 21st at the 9:00 Am Catechetical Sunday mass. We welcome ALL children in the parish from second grade and up to join our group!!!

Folk Group The folk group can be found playing and singing generally at 12:15 Pm mass each Sunday. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 11:00 Am in the meeting room in the church foyer. The group is always looking for additional singers as well as instrumentalists. The folk group is under the direction of Ms. Jennie Esposito.

Teenage Group On the fourth Sunday of each month our high school students are invited to sing and play for the 12:15 Pm mass. ALL high school students are invited to either sing play an instrument or do both! This group is also under the direction of Ms. Jennie Esposito. Please feel free to see Jennie after the 12:15 mass on Sundays for more information on either the folk or the teenage group. I would like to once again welcome all of you to join any one of our musical groups here at SJV. Please see me after mass or contact me at (908) 331-0471 or e-mail me at [email protected] if you wish to join or have any questions. I thank you once again for all your prayers and best wishes for the Music Ministry here at S.J.V. Thanks also for always singing at mass!! Sincerely, Jamie Frame, Organist/Director of Music
