Wednesday, March 18, 2009 • PARRY SOUND NORTH STAR - 9 Hairstyles for the big day F or any bride, the choice of a hairstyle for her wedding day must be dictated by the shape of her face, the style of her dress and, of course, the length of her hair. Short hair Women with short hair have the advantage of being able to create a femme fatale look. The hair carefully smoothed back and moulded with the help of gel and a comb or wedding pin, offers subtle sophistication. The same effect can be created with an updated version of the loose waves of the 1920’s and 30’s. This hairstyle is distinguished by soft waves set close to the face. Medium length hair A chignon still has exquisite elegance for the bride with medium length hair. Hair pulled back carefully to end in a cascade of curls or held together with a garland of flowers. An elegant French pleat is another great idea and can be created by smoothing the hair back on both sides of the head. The centre of the pleat is formed by crisscrossing hair pins in a row from the crown downwards. Then the hair is wound around the pins, tucking the ends underneath. Finally lightly comb the front section of hair up and around to merge with the top of the pleat. Long hair The ultimate in romance is a cascade of light and airy curls. Locks of hair can be twisted on the top of the head and caught up with flower petals, bringing to mind the Empress Sissi whose hair was scattered with diamond stars. If the hair is straight, it can be curled sufficiently so its weight doesn’t make the curls droop. We have full banquet facilities, featuring Jolly Roger catering. Hairstyles for the big dayFor any bride, the choice of a hairstyle for her

wedding day must be dictated by the shape of her face, the style of her dress and, of course, the length of her hair.

Short hairWomen with short hair have the advantage of

being able to create a femme fatale look. The hair carefully smoothed back and moulded with the help of gel and a comb or wedding pin, offers subtle sophistication. The same effect can be created with an updated version of the loose waves of the 1920’s and 30’s. This hairstyle is distinguished by soft waves set close to the face.

Medium length hairA chignon still has exquisite elegance for the

bride with medium length hair. Hair pulled back

carefully to end in a cascade of curls or held together with a garland of flowers.

Long hairThe ultimate in romance is a cascade of light

and airy curls.
