Davenport Youth Trap Shooting Team
The Davenport Youth Trap team was founded in 2009 by Robert Gill and Gene Belz. At
that time local trap clubs were very limited in Iowa and competitions were few and far
between. Since that time, the sport has exploded in popularity and puts Iowa at the top of the
nation in scholastic trap teams and competitions. As the sport has continued to grow, so have
our numbers. Last season, our roster had grown to over 50 shooters! Our home base for
practices and smaller home meets is Oak Hill Gun Club near Blue Grass and we compete all
over eastern Iowa, and occasionally into Eastern Illinois and SW Wisconsin.
It is our belief, that trap should be open to all students regardless of ability level,
gender, and financial constraints. We accept all shooters to our team from grades 6-12 who
attend Davenport schools, public or private. Through the generosity of our sponsors and the
hard work of our shooters and families to fundraise, we are able to keep costs as low as
possible for our families.
Team Mission Statement: The mission of Davenport Youth Trap is to
enhance the abilities of all our trap shooters while promoting sportsmanship,
work ethic, and safety!
