Africa needs thousands of churches to think and act differently, by showing the Good News in word and deed.

CMS Africa is using The Samaritan Strategy to train church leaders –

• To see the gospel as also about meeting day to day needs

• To recognise everyone can do something because no one is helpless

• To develop a new vision, and action plan with a mentor to help them

Pastor Moses, with his Samaritan Strategy training certificate. From an event that transformed his ministry.

The continent of Africa is deeply scarred bypoverty and HIV/Aids. Millions in city slumsand rural farms equally struggle to survive.

Meanwhile –

• Africa’s churches have largely focussed on spiritual need. And raising money for handouts.

• The West has taught churches to be dependent. To believe there is nothing they can do to end their plight – despite their rich resources.

Africa’s churches - so often strong in faith and worship. But not seeing the need to fight poverty.

Because of the training church leaders are receiving at Samaritan Strategy conferences, in some of Africa’s most needy places –

• Those who would have had to beg, steal or go hungry can learn skills that can put bread on the table

• Family after family are gaining a secure future

• Whole communities – urban and rural – are beginning to be released from poverty

Without The Samaritan Strategy, these children would never have had the education they need to lift them out of poverty.

CMS Africa hopes to hold over 100 more Samaritan Strategy conferences next year – in Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria.

Each gift of £44 means one more church leader can attendTheir aim is to touch thousands of church leaders. And so see –

• Many more who will share the gospel in deed as well as word• More jobs. More projects that attack poverty. And more people coming to know Jesus.
