5. Then write your ideas (neatly) in the enormous mouth below. 6. Bring it back to school to make a huge class collection!

6. Write the sum: 6p + 4p = 10p.7. Put the money back in the cup and tip it out again.

9. Repeat this twenty times. 10. Who has the largest score?

Have a go at these Christmas Maths word problems. Write your working out and answers in your book.

1. Father Christmas has 10 sacks of presents on his sleigh. Each sack contains 36 presents. How many presents are there altogether?

2. He must give 4 presents to each child. How many children can get presents?

3. He gives each of his 8 reindeer 2 apples. How many apples does he need?

4. He has 6 elves to help him load the sleigh. He gives hem £5 each. How much money does it cost?

5. Father Christmas arrived at Tom’s house. He had 4 presents for Tom, 4 presents for Tom’s sister, Kate, 2 presents for Mum but only one present for Dad. How many presents did he leave under the tree?

6. On the tree there were 16 blue baubles, 6 golden fir cones, and 12 red and white striped candy canes. How many things were on the tree?

7. There was a box of chocolates on the table. There were 3 rows of chocolates and 4 columns. There were 2 layers. How many chocolates were there?

When Mum came downstairs in the morning, there were only 13 chocolates left. She thought Father Christmas must have been hungry. How many chocolates did he eat?
