June 2, 2016 Vision Statement Holy Family Elementary, learning progressively to empower all students to achieve in an inclusive and active environment. Mission Statement By 2016, the Holy Family Elementary school community will maximize student learning and achievement by progressively engaging the 21 st century learner through inclusive and collaborative practices. Last day of School Our last day of school is Thursday, June 23, 2016. Children will be dismissed at 10:00 A.M. and reports will be given at this time. Afternoon kindergarten classes will complete their school year the day before, June 22. Reflection As we reflect upon this current school year, it has been beneficial to have a reduced student population at Holy Family Elementary. Our projected enrollment for September 2016 is 475 children. On June 23 rd, our kindergarten and grade 1 friends from Octagon Pond School will be leaving our building and we will begin the process of reorganizing Holy Family as one school community, thus the reason for our early dismissal on Thursday, June 23 rd .

Holy Family Elementary, learning progressively to empower all students to

achieve in an inclusive and active environment.

Last day of School

Our last day of school is Thursday, June 23, 2016. Children will be dismissed at 10:00 A.M. and reports will be given at this time. Afternoon kindergarten classes will complete their school year the day before, June 22.

Reflection As we reflect upon this current school year, it has been beneficial to have a reduced student population at Holy Family Elementary. As this time we would like to thank all members of the school community for your continued contributions to our students’ learning throughout this school year.

RecyclingThank you for your interest in our recycling program again this year. We have one blitz left to be held on June 16th for all students, therefore we do not yet have a total of how much money we raised for the year. An announcement on this will be made in the fall. The last 2 months winners were:

Moving?If you have moved, or are planning to move outside of our school zone over the summer months, please contact the school so that your child’s registration at the new school can be in place for September, 2016.

Supply List/Bus RoutesSupply lists for September will be included with your child’s report card. They will also be posted on-line on our school website. Our 2016 -2017 bus routes will be posted on our website during the last week of school.

Class Lists for September 2016Class lists for September will be created by teachers on a variety of criteria to ensure that our classes are balanced. Consequently, we will not be taking requests from parents for particular teachers or friends. We appreciate your cooperation in not making these requests.

School CouncilWe would like to extend a sincere thank you to our School Council which have contributed greatly to our school again this year. Our outgoing member is Mr. Terry Moores, and we would like to extend our thanks to him for his service. We will have one parent representative position available in the fall. More information will be provided in September 2016.

Thank YouWe thank all families for their support with the Fort McMurray Fundraiser ($500.00) and the Alex and Riley Mercer Food Drive. We appreciate your giving spirit.

There will be no cafeteria services provided during the last week of school; the School Lunch Program will finish on June 17th. Please ensure that your child(ren) has a packed recess and lunch with them for Monday, June 20 to Wednesday, June 22nd. As advanced notice, the School Lunch Program will not start up in September 2016 until the end of the month. Further information will be sent home in the new school year.

Back to SchoolThe first day of school for grades 1- 6 is Wednesday, September 7, 2016.The first day of school for kindergarten is Thursday, September 8, 2016.
