Memorial Food Drive

On May 9th, our school will be participating in the 3rd Annual S.O.A.R (Spirit of Alex and Riley) Memorial Food Drive. Alex and Riley Mercer, brother and sister, were students in our school feeder system who passed away due to a critical illness. Their parents want to honor their memory on this day by asking residents to donate non-perishable food items to the C.B.S./Paradise Community Food Bank. We thank you for your anticipated support to the food bank, which is in great need at this time.

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District will be using an online registration process for the English Kindergarten and Early French Immersion Kindergarten programs. Children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2017 in order to register. Please note this registration process is for the 2016-2017 Kinderstart children who will be in Kindergarten in 2017-2018.

Please note that online registration is required for all areas of the province this year.

For the Eastern Region, online registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11th and remain open until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12th, 2015.

Registration will take place on the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s website www.nlesd.ca. These times will be for those registering for both English and Early French Immersion programs.

You will need the following in order to complete an online application:

• MCP number including expiration date;• An email address in order to receive confirmation of receipt of your application;• Phone contact number and an emergency contact phone number; and,• An Internet-ready device.

To finalize the registration process, proof of address and confirmation of MCP number must be provided in person at the designated school on or before May 27, 2016.

Any parents/guardians requiring Internet access or technical support may visit their zoned school during registration times for assistance. Please contact your zoned school by May 4, 2016 to arrange assistance during the registration process.

French Immersion

French Immersion is a program designed for non-francophone children.

Parents/guardians interested in registering a child for the French Immersion Kindergarten Program must select their zoned school. If Early French Immersion is not offered in the zoned school, parents/guardians must select the school closest to their place of residence that offers Early French Immersion. The District reserves the right to make the final decision regarding student acceptance and placement.

Early French Immersion Kindergarten registration takes place on a first-come basis. Applications will be dated and time-stamped upon submission of the online application form. All students are entitled to a program in English so if your child is waitlisted for Early French Immersion at a school that is not your zoned school, space will be held at the zoned school for the English program. Parents/guardians will be provided with further information once class lists for Early French Immersion are finalized in September.

Parents/guardians are advised to visit the NLESD website (www.nlesd.ca) for additional Early French Immersion details, including dates and times of information sessions, specific to your region.

Please note that the EFI information sessions, as part of the registration process for Kinderstart/Kindergarten, are scheduled as outlined below. Please advertise through your usual means. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend the session in their area,
