This social story will help you when you visit our library

This has been created for children, young people and adults with autism, communication and other learning disabilities, and those with English as a second language.Makaton symbols are used to help communicate information and are there to support understanding.

This is the way in to our library.

There are two sets of doors. They open by themselves when you walk towards them.

These are our self service machines.

This is where you can take out books and bring your books back when you have finished reading them.

Someone will be there to help you.

This is our enquiry desk.

If you need help there will be someone who can come and help you.

These bookshelves are where our adult books are kept.

They are divided into sections.

Story books called novels and information books.

This is our children’s library.

We have picture books and stories for young children, story books for older children and information and fact books.

This is our lift.

It is a platform lift. It makes a noise but it will not harm you. Someone will show you how it works.

These are the stairs to the first floor. Here you can find the Toilets, Military Library and the Learning Zones

These sign are on the first floor landing and will help you find your way

Upstairs we have 3 rooms for learning.

This is Learning Zone 1

A big room which we use to use to hold large events.

Learning Zone 2

A smaller room used for groups to meet.

This is our IT Learning Zone.

We have 9 computers and hold courses on how to use them and access the internet. It has an accessible desk for people in a wheelchair.

Also on this floor is our Military Library.

It contains anything to do with the Army.

It is a quieter area of the library and a good place to sit if you need some quiet time.

The door to the lift from downstairs is in this room. You can access the toilets from here.

You can access the toilets from the lift or from the stairs.We have two toilets and you can use either of them.One of the toilets is a Disabled Toilet.

If you need help a member of staff will be pleased to help you.
