This is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they give a paper called "DATA SHEET" in which u have to fill all details like   NAME ; PERSONAL INFORMATION ; ACADEMIC DETAILS ; STRENGTH WEAKNESS ; SOFTWARE PROFESIONAL ;  SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM PLAN ; EXPECTATIONS FROM CTS .  They just give only 10-15 min to fill all these details suddenly without telling the time duration they ask us to start writing the exm so be careful we have to write as fast as we can... after completing the exm we can write these fill up form... as i got 10 min time after completing my exm so i used my time by writing fill up form.

Paper was easy it contains the following pattern. * Analytical Section (30 questions, 30 minutes)

Q(1)  : Choose the different figure Q(2-3)  : Logic Q(4-5)  : Logic Q(6-7)  : Logic Q(8-9)  : Logic Q(10-13) : Puzzle Q(14-17) : Encoding & Decoding Q(18-21)  : Figure Sequence Q(22-24)  : Choose the similar figure Q(25-28)  : Data IntrepretationQ(29-30)  : Logic                                                                                                 * Verbal Section (25 questions, 20 minutes) (15) , (10)

Q(31-32)  : Identify correct sentenceQ(33-37)  : Reading Comprehension IQ(37-42)  : Reading Comprehension IIQ(43)  : Identify the correct sentenceQ(44-46)  : Identify the incorrect sentenceQ(47-51)  : Sentence re-arrangement   Q(52)  : Identify the correct sentence        Q(53-55)  : Identify the incorrect sentence

This blue print is the same as how they asked in exam...  And i would like to give some tips regarding the exam... first to attend encoding and decoding ; figure sequence ; similar figure ; logical deductions and connectives ;correct incorrect sentence and then to passage finally end the exm with interpretation... as bcoz interpretation questions are very tough and we could not able to solve as the calculations to be done are more.. so what i suggest u to attend it at last... This is the way i followed in my exam where i saved 10 min time... Books:  R.S.AGGARWAL  (VERBAL AND NON VERBAL) TIME BOOK For LOGICAL CONNECTIVES  These two books are more than enough to study for clearing the exam. And at one week later i got mail stating i cleared Aptitude and asked me to come for Technical in MEPZ on 5 FEB 2011  at 11.00 A.M. To my surprise there was GD round... All batch consists of 10 members... My HR was very Cool ... He gave comfort by talking in general and he also told that its enough of talking atleast one line but to talk bravely and loudly this was his criteria for selecting candidates but other HR insisted on GRAMMATICAL USAGE it completely depends upon each HR ... and to our surprise again he asked us as each and every person can talk their own topic... And we all got cleared in our Batch.

HR : finally told ur eligible and also iam meeting all the criteria for CTS and he asked me to proceed ... He also added to check mail for my HR results.... Finally told Nice meeting youME : told thank you Sir...

The aptitude test consists of two sections: 1. Analytical 30 questions 2. Verbal 25 questions

Total 55 questions and 60 mins There was a CV like paper will be given to fill up. Few basic questions like hobbies, skill, expectations from Cognizant etc. Prepare well otherwise you may lose time to complete it.  Do the analytical section very well try to do it 100% and attempt all as there was no negative markings. The verbal section I felt was very hard. There was 2 big passages, finding correct/incorrect sentences, putting in order of several sentences. After the written I felt I will not be selected. It was held on 15th January, 2011. But I got a mail on 17th Janunary that I have been selected for the Technical Interview.  I am from Electronics and Communication background but I had a good knowledge in C programming. I have studied C from Let Us C, Data Structure just the basics like link list, tree, Bubble sort, binary search, Electronics ( just basics of semiconductor, op-amp, filters and nothing else), Microprocessor( block diagram, and little theory and previous interview questions on it), study project very well, I am good in Digital Circuit so I revised it once, and little bit of C++ and OOPS concept though I was not so confident on it. Thats all for my Technical Interview. I had terrible experience with my HR interview so this time I had prepared for it. Be prepared for questions like Tell me about urself, a story of a recent movies you have seen, why CTS? if you are from non IT CS then why you wanna come to IT sector. I am not telling you the answers then that will become same for all. You can mail me at [email protected] or call 9749138942 for any help.

On 21st I had my Interview. They picked us from Science city at 9 am in a bus and drove us to Bantala Office. The office is like a palace. Very big and beautiful. I also liked the environment and friendliness ( I have heard from my friends how strict TCS is). After waiting for 7 hours my name was called for the Technical interview. There was 32 panels who were taking the interview. If you are lucky enough you can be called early as the name was been called haphazardly. The process was fast enough, not like the other campusing. A Ma'am took my Technical Interview. She was from Non IT CS background so it was like an advantage for me. She told me to take a sit. I am just telling you the questions: HR: Why you wanna shift from electronics to ITHR: Wat if you are not selected? HR: Plan for next 6months?HR: What you did all this months after passing out? I told I like programing so she told me to do any program. I told her to give any program. I told If I am able to do i will do it. Never show overconfidence.  She gave me to do a string reversal program. I did it very well. She told very good several time. Then she gave me a harder program.

Page 4: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

Its like a string is given Ex: FISHERIES. It will count the no.of occurrence of each vowels and print the vowels encountered from the last long with the no. of occurrence. like E-2, I-2 I attempted the program. did half correct. Then she told me the logic and it seemed easy. She then asked a CV from me. Asked weather I have any problem to change the location and shifting duties. I said not at all. She told weather I have any question for her or not. Asked. Then I thanked her and left.

After waiting for about 3 hours my name was called for technical Interview. I don't know why I didn't had to stand in a queue with the others for the HR interview. I was called directly for it. There was again a Ma'am and she was really very nice and frank. She just asked about me and then told me welcome to CTS. Told about the salary pakage and asked me whether i have any problem with relocation and shifting duties.  Then she shook my hand and i left. The interview seemed just a formality and lasted for 2mins. But there was others who also got rejected in HR interview or kept on hold, or said they will be informed via mail. So be aware and do perform well in Technical Interview and HR round.   I would like to thank my parents for there support, God, my friends and last but not the least, One special person who changed my life.  Never ever Lose hope. Do prepare well from R.S. Aggarwal and keep faith. I have sat for so many IT campusing that I have forgotten the counting but at last  made it. The journey began with the rejection from TCS, then Wipro BPO, Infosys, Accenture (at HR round), TCS (again), Mu sigma and there are others which I have forgotten. But that does not means you are not worthy enough. You just need some luck. Keep patience, Try and Try till you succeed.

Below are the few important grammatical rules which may be required to review to solve English aptitude paper in any MNCs 1. Possessive case

Possessive case is generally used with living things e.g. the governor’s bodyguard.

2.  Comparison of adjectives:

1)  Adjectives ending in –or are followed by the preposition to(not than); as,Inferior, superior, prior, anterior, posterior, senior, junior.

e.g.

Hari is inferior to rama in intelligenceHe is junior to all of his colleagues.

2) In comparing two things or classes of things the comparative should be used; as, Of Mumbai and Madras the former is wealthier.

Of two evils, choose the less (not least).

Note:  later and latest refer to time, latter and last refer to position. Elder and eldest are used only of person, not of animals or thing. Older and oldest are used of both persons and things.

3. Personal pronouns

Page 5: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

There is a general constructione.g.You and I have done our duty. You and hari have idled away your time.He and I can never pull on together.

i.e the construction is- “you and I” not “I and you” ,”you and he” not “he and you”  ,”he and I” not “I and he”

mind it.

4. Mood

There were 480 students appeared for CTS in our collage, friends the ppt was very good, now I want to tell you something about aptitude test. It had two part, logical reasoning and English, for logical part do R.S Aggarwal. Data sufficiency (very important) 8. Data interpretation (very important) 9. Statement conclusion. For English part, do cat material (ims, time etc) just take care of grammatical rules, sentence correction, rapid fast reading ability that's enough for English.

Cognizant Campus Recruitment Process on 25.02.2011

Eligibility Criteria: 60% throughout (X, XII, UG/PG)

No year Gap

Only 2011 Pass out

Venue: FIEM, Sonarpur (it was not an on Campus Process)

Reporting Time: 8:00 am

My experience

I was 15 mins late, but it did not create any issue

An auditorium sought of place was given to us so that it can accommodate at least 400 students, 452 were eligible. Cognizant came at around 9am, and when I saw the entire team I was simply stunned, more than 35 people came, out of which 33 were interviewer (I came to know about them before the interview). The T.P.O of the FIEM introduced Mr. N Ghosal, the HR Manager of Cognizant.

Mr. N Ghosal, introduced himself and started off with the ppt session, it was damn good and inspiring

After 30-45 mins of ppt session we were asked to get ready for the Aptitude test, a consultancy named Meritrake came in with a team of more than 20 people and divided the entire group of students into several rooms, they had taken every possible measure so that no unfair means occur.

A form (data sheet) was given to fill-up, followed by two question papers (2-sections)

Total 55 questions were there, 60 mins time, 2 sections, 1-logical and quantitative 2-Based on English, no Negative marking but sectional cut-offs were there.

Aptitude result was declared by 1.30 pm, and panels were allotted to the selected candidates, there were 33 panels, and 5-6 students were allotted to each

I was in panel 1.

The interview session began, 1:1 interview, Technical and HR was combined, and the single man that was sitting on the other side was more than enough to make us realize that he was from CTS and the questions won’t be as smooth as we were thinking

I was waiting for my turn to come; seriously, I was quite tensed and nervous though my face did not reflect that. At that moment of time I was completely blank, I could not even remember the syntax for inheritance in C++, anyways I had to wait till 5.30pm, as the interviewer was taking a lot of time with a single candidate, so you can imagine how sweet the interview session could be, sitting with the interviewer for than 30mins, minimum, gradually I started to make up my mind that I have to face the person on the other side of the desk, and if I get tensed then everything would be in a mess, actually I was not tensed, neither was i nervous, it was a different feeling, which you can only feel when your waiting outside that ROOM.

When my name was called, it was near about 5.40pm

Me : Sir, may I come in

X: yah, sure (he had a smiling face)Me: Good Afternoon sir (I was standing with my bag on one shoulder, and a file in my hand)

X: yah, have your seat, be comfortable(I took my seat, kept my bag on the floor, and the file on my lap)

X: (with a smile on his face) so you are Shyam, from JISCE?

Me: yes sirX: (he called out two names, they were also from my college and asked me) who is the topper? Me: sir all are unique in their own way, but if you talk about academics I have topped the last 5 semestersX: so you are the topper? (smiled again)

Me: yes sir till the 5th semesterX: show me your certificates, class X and XII (I gave him the original), make sure that you put back all the certificates safely

(He started calculating my percentages, one by one) and said all are perfect

X: you have passed out class XII from CBSE? I am also from CBSEMe: which school sir?

X: Kendriya Vidyalay, Alipore, (smiled) I have passed out class 10 in 2000, so where do you stay?Me: Naihati

X: hmm nice place, so what are your hobbies Shyam?Me: (told) (and he continued writing everything in his evaluation sheet)

X: (going through the data sheet that I have filled up in the morning) you like data structureMe: yes sir, we had DS in our 3rd sem

X: ok (he gave a blank A4 sheet and wrote an array of 6 elements) sort the arrayMe: which technique sir? X: anything of your choiceMe: (after sorting the array by Bubble sorting technique) sir done

X: ok let me see (going through my code) no this will not work!! (returned the paper back to me)Me: (surprisingly) why sir? (I went through my code,….but couldn’t find any mistakes) (Gave it back to him) sir it will work

X: (again going through my code) no it won’t, ok let us do a dry run

Page 17: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

Me: (eagerly waiting for him to point out my mistake) yes sir

X: oh! My mistake, I didn’t notice the other loop (he overlooked my outer loop) it will work (gave a positive smile)X: Can you tell me its time complexity?

Me: (told, a complete wrong guess, I was not sure) (he did not say anything)X: what projects have you done?

Me: (told)X: do you know Linked lists?

Me: yes sirX: ok, have you heard of circular, doubly, circular-doubly linked lists?

Me: yah sir, sureX: how can I search an element from the linked list? (Passed that paper to me again)

Me: shall I write the code?X: your choice, I just need to understand

Me: (I wrote the code, defined a structure for linear linked list, and defined a function for searching the element) ( I was taking a bit time and I looked up once to see what was he doing)X: take your time (gave a pleasant smile)

(I continued with my ‘searching’ function)

(After completing, I looked up again, found him busy writing something, so I started checking my code, if there are some errors)

Me: sir I have done itX: oh , let me have a look (going through my code) yah good

X: what changes would you make if I ask you to do the same for doubly linked list?Me: (made the changes)

X: (with a impressive smile) your code is ok but it could have been much simpler. What is recursion?Me: (told)

X: write down a recursive function to print the fibonacci series in Java

Me: (feeling a bit tensed, started off)(Finished writing the code, I didn’t print the a and b as 0 in the beginning, I took a=-1 and b=1, and gave him the sheet back) sir done.

X: (checked out my code) why did you take a= -1 and b=1? Me: (explained him)X: (he looked impressed) (he took the paper back, wrote a small code snippet) what will be output of the following? (The code was written in C++, a bit tricky)

Me: (I started solving it, wrote few steps) (suddenly he took back the paper and said) X: what is string?

Me: (answered him) X: how can you copy one string in another?

Me: (I told him about the strcpy function)X: without strcpy?

Me: bla bla…. (could not answer properly)X: ok can you relocate outside Kolkata?

Me: (butterflies in my stomach) YES ! sirX: ok last question I’ll ask you, if you can answer you are through

Page 18: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

(I was excited)

X: ( wrote 3 statements: x=1+2+3; y=”1”+2+3; z=2+4+”6”;) if I write System.out.println(x) and in the same way SOP for y and z what will be the output?Me: x=6; y=123 (as ‘+’ will act as a concatenation operator), and z= (he took back the paper)

X: you are through, you can goMe: Thank you sir (I saw him writing the marks, he gave me 9/10) ( before getting in I heard, that, 6 is the cut-off, so any one getting 6 will get the job)Came out of the room, I was quite satisfied and eagerly waiting for the resultThey announced the result around 7.30pm,

And they gave me the offer letter.

Interview

My interview was the longest in my pannel. For everyone it was 20 to 25 mins mine was 30 mins.

My technical is not that strong. But I have very good communication skills. Thus, I went in very confidently. He asked me. To tell him about myself. Seriously this is the answer when you can actually drive your interview. I spoke so elligently that he was very impressed.

Than he asked me some technical questions I think 3 he asked of which I gave none answer. But I convince dhim by saying that." sir its not luck I dont know the answer. Yesterday when result was announce. My neighbours and relatives were all at ma room and I was already nervous and I didn't got the time to browse through ma notes"

He smilled at me then I said that sir ma technical is not dat good but if I will revise ma notes than definitely I can handle the questions.

So, he then stated asking me situational questions some of tham are

(1) Say you and your best friend made a project but it was rejected by the customer. You know that it was becuse your friend made a mistake in the project. Now, your boss is asking you to tell him who made the mistake. Will you tell your boss about the mistake done by your friend?    (2) Your boss gave you a project. To be done in 10 day. But it is impossible for you to complete it in 10 day. What will you do?

Page 24: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

(3) Your friends birthday is let us say in January 1989 but you don't know your frrends date and day. How can you calculate it. By just asking him 1 questions. You cannot ask him directly his b"day?

Like this 9 situational questions were asked to me. I gave all the answers very confidently. With possitive attitude and very good communication skills.

He even asked me technical questions practically. like, if there is a car say"CIVIC" than what will be the object and what will be the function and what will be the class.

I just spoke out  whatever was cuming into ma mind.  Because i'm not good in technical. But I said with confidence after 30 minutes he asked me do you have any questions to askedI asked him 2 questions about there logo "GO GREEN" and  "HOW SOCIALLY INTACT IS CTS"after asking the questions

He said that "Gareema you have a very impressive approach have a nice day"

I was selected in CTS. So, the conclusion is, be confident. Written is very easy and one should be very confident in front of the HR.

Myself Ramana Reddy MCA-2010, I appeared for CTS Off campus recruitment on 16th Janunary, MLR Engineering College, Hyderabad. The Aptitude paper was little bit easy and little bit hard.  Total question: 55Total marks: 55

No negative mark, but sectional cut-off is there.

The exam consists of two sections.

1) Analytical Pattern:

Figure sequence  (very easy)

* Syllogims  (easy)* Puzzle test (easy but time taken take care about time here)* Coding decoding (very easy no preparation required)* Data interpretation  (Difficult)* Data sufficiency  (logical thinking apply here)

* First complete  coding, decoding, fig sequence and then follow remaining.

Note: In this section we have to secure min 16 marks for qualifying, otherwise may be disqualified.

 2) English:

Two passages (one easy, one difficult) (10 marks). Sentence formation (5 marks).

Pick Correct,  Incorrect sentences from a list.

Note: In this section we have to secure min 12 marks for qualifying, otherwise disqualified. After 30 mins they collect the first section paper (analytical) and give second section paper(English).First section kills time, you can't even study the whole paper unless you are quick enough results will be with in one day. I got the mail from Cognizant on that day at 11pm.

My technical and HR on Jan-18th at 8.30am in CTS company, VBIT park, Madhapur.

Ok, prepare well and Best Of Luck.

I hope to see you in our Cognizant family.  This is Shyamananda Sarkar from GCELT. Cognizant visited our college on 19th January. With us there was GCECT also to sit for the selection procedure. I gonna share my experience with you. Firstly, we were told to come college within 8:30 am. As registration purpose. Then after waiting for about 30-35 minutes it was the time for PPT which was given by a HR of CTS, I don't know who he was but atleast not Nilangsu Ghosal. Any way he told about the company bla..bla...bla. After about 45-50 minutes of PPT our main selection procedure started. It was consisted of 2 parts: 1) Aptitude Test2) Technical+HR Interview.

1) The aptitude section was of 2 sections.

a) Logical reasoning: 30 marks, questions were very easy, just need to practice little bit from R.S Aggarwal and the foremost needy thing is to be cool and try to solve as soon as possible. There was no quantitive part.

Page 27: brahmamkv.weebly.combrahmamkv.weebly.com/uploads/2/7/5/4/2754313/_cts.do…  · Web viewThis is DHIVYA recently i attended the cts aptitude test on 30 jan '11. At the beginning they

 b) Verval: Two passage one was very easy and another one was long but if you can manage time for all other part you'll surely be able to answer the questions from that passage.

Cut-off was about around 30-35 % in English and 50 % for logical. Any way total around 180-185 students sat for the exam. From that 57 GCELT and 45 GCECT students were selected for the next round. Any way there were 10 panels and I was selected for 6th panel and my interview time was 2:50 pm any way I was very tensed but ultimately around 5:10pm I was called for interview. The person who take my interview was a non-bengali and very cool and was in fancy mood.

My interview was like the following.Me: Good Afternoon sir.Int: Good Afternoon. pls have a sit. Me: Thank you sir.Int: So, sarkar, will you be able work in Mumbai? Me: (I was totally shocked, for this question, that too at the very beginning) offcourse sir, I can adjust any where in the world, after all I'm going to join a MNC.  Int: Ok, so Sarkar tum bara sarkar yeah chhota sarkar? Me: (I thought if I ans in Hindi or any others language rathar than English I may not get chance) no sir, my name only just sarkar and I'm also not like that. I also about the history of our title but a very few. Int: (He smiled) so who changed surname? Me: ToldInt: What does you father do? Me: ToldInt: Where do u father and grandfather live?

Int: What do you in computer domain.Me: I told Java and Dbms(but I surprised he didn't ask me not even a single question from Java) Int: Do you know C?Me: Yes sir. Int: So write a simple C code for the output of (a-b)^2. I was so lucky to have this.Me: I did it promptly. Int: Then he gave me to write the sql query for joining two table as directed by him. Me: I also did it  Int: Very good. Then he asked what are you doing in 4th year project.

Me: ToldInt: Then he asked will u be able to work in testing dept. from the very beginning? Me: Told bla...bla..

Then he told that's all have you any question?I asked about the Cognizant 2.0 He told.

Then I also asked about the mission Cognizant do for orphans in India. He told. That was all of my interview.

Thomas' college of Engineering and Technology. My department is Electronics and Communication.

This is my first experience of a campus recruitment process!

Cognizant visited our campus on 6th January, 2011.  Out of 255 eligible candidates 219 cleared the first round (written test). Finally 175 were selected as finalist after the interview.

Written Test:

This consisted of 2 papers

1. Verbal Ability (25 marks 30 mins)

This consisted of 2 comprehension passages, choosing the grammatically correct sentences, syllogisms and finding the odd in a group. The question patterns were repetitve. My suggesstion would be to try and attempt the passages correctly.

2. Logical Resoning (30 marks 30 mins)

This section was not very easy. I remember one puzzle based on blood relation which I couldn't do. This puzzle was not of the type which you will readily find in R.S Aggarwal. The rest consisted of the type coding-decoding, simple puzzles on sitting arrangement and data sufficiency. The last question was on finding out various pecentage based on data provided in two tables. Sincerely solving problems from R.S aggarwal will suffice.

During the test we were provided a form where we had to fill in the required details. Separate time was provided for this.

After about 1 hour 15 mins the result of the test was declared and I was through. Then I had to sit for  more than 3 long hours when I was called for my Interview at about 5.30 pm.

Me: May I come in sir?Int: Yes come in.

Me: Good Evening sirInt: Good Evening! Please take your seat.

Me: Thank you sir. (He was about 45. He was neither smiling nor very serious.)Int: Is this your first interview? Me: Yes sir.Int: So, where is your school located?

Me: ToldInt: And your house? Me: Told (He seemed to know the place and so he asked me in some details)Int: In which area are you comfortable?

Me: 'C' and Basic ElectronicsInt: While programming which one will you prefer array or pointer?

Me: Sir, PointerInt: Why?

Me: Told (Pointers works with addresses and bla bla bla. He was busy with his own work)Int: How do you initialize and array?

Me: ToldInt: Can you tell me what is the difference between a structure and a union?

Me: ToldInt: Are you involved in any project work?

Me: Told and described somewhatInt: OK Abhinav tell me 3 points why I will hire you and 3 points for which I will not hire you?

Me: Sir, I am hardworking, sincere and have the ability to accept challenges so you can definitely hire me. If I don't get selected, I will think that something must have gone wrong in my interview process and not in my aptitude level since I have already cleared the written round. In that case I will try to improve my body language, communication skills and my confidence level.

Int: Ok, Abhinav! I'm done. Glad to meet you. (And he shook hands with me)Me: Thank you sir (And I walked out quietly) This was my interview process. It was about 10-12 mins. I was pretty sure I will get through.  Next day when results were announced I was delighted to here my name announced as this was my first job .This is debasis from B.P.Poddr Institute Of Management & Technology. CTS had visited our college on 13th January, 2011. So I'm sharing a bit of my experience with you. The events of the day were like this.

1) A ppt by jonal hr head of CTS at 9 am. 2) Aptitute test consisting of 35 non verbal questions 35 mins were provided for this part (R.S Agarwal verbal-non verbal book is enough for this one) and 30 verbal questions for which 30 mins were alloted(barrons or R.S.Aggarwal verbal book is good enough. English was a bit tough acording to me. But if you are preparing for CAT then it would not be a matter of concern. You will be given a form to be filled up during this time.  It contains questions like strenghts & weaknessesYour hobbies, why CTS what qualities you have to join the it industry. Prepare this question before going in the interviewer will be watching all this after the aptitude test 251 people were selected out of . 359 people who sat for the aptitute test. My name was there. 3) Interview (Technical+HR)  I entered the interviewing hall at near about 7.30 pm Me: Good evening sir, may I have the seat? (manners & showing respect do count a lot over here)Int: Yeah, have the seat. (he had an age of 40-45 was quite serious always have a little bit of smile on your face. It shows that you are not nervous.

Int: So you have done a summer training isn't it?Me: Yes sir, I did a training from BSNL on telecommunication and also from microsoft it academy on asp.net Int: So what were you taught in your BSNL training?Me: We were actually taught about the working of optical fibre will broadband. etc etc Int: So what is a broadband?(and he also asked a lot of question regarding this ne)Me: I told (although I had little knowledge on this one. But still I told everything I knew about it. Just tell confidently) Int: Are you sure? (he always tried to mis guide me. But never move away from your point)Me: Yes Sir Interviewer: Derive a nor gate using two and gate (This is a confidence-breaker question making "nor" with two "and" is not possible. He just wants to check weather you crumble under pressure or not)

Me: Initially I told yes. I will try but after 2 mins of trying I told Sorry sir, but I am not able to do this.Int: What is the job of "void" in C? Me: I told.Int: What will occur if we dont write main() in C. Me: Compiler error will occur Int: What type of compiller error Me: Pardon me sir, but I cant remember it right nowInt: What is function overloading in C? Me: Actually this was again a confidence breaker question as beacause function overloading was not there in C. It was in C++ or Java. Which were in our ECE syllabus. But still I told whatever I knew about it.Int: Look debasis, your communication skill is very good. But technical knowledge is quite low. Me: This was again done to break my confidence. Although I had a avg cgpa was below 7.0 but still I knew that my interview questions correctly.Me: May be sir that I am lagging in some technical parts. I can definitely work on them & cope up very quickly. I am no less than any other person over here. I am dying to get into Cognizant.

Int: Suppose you were in my chair & you had two candidates infront of you. One is technically very sound the other one is potential like you are but technically weak. Whom you would have selected.Me: I would have selected both of them Int: Ok thank you. Do you have any questions (always ask questions this shows your eagerness to know. But don't ask foolish questions like "how was my interview" this looks unprofesional)Me: I asked "how the recent policies of barrack obama will be affecting the Indian it industry"? Int: He told, any other question?Me: No Sir. Int: Thank you. you may leave.Me: Thanks a lot sir, have a nice day Int: You too. Out of 251 candidates who appeared for the interview 179 were selected & my name was there in the list.

CTS came to our campus on 7th Jan, 2011. The recruitment process had two parts: 1. Written Test ( pen and paper)2. Interview (Technical and HR together) At around 9:30 am the ppt began. Cognizant HR Manager Mr. Nilanshu Ghosh gave a presentation on Cognizant, and after that we were send for the written test. Cut-off for the written was not disclosed. There was no negative marking. About 280 candidates appeared for the written. Before the start of the test, we were given 20 mins to fill up a form. After filling it, it became a complete CV. It had questions like 10th marks, 12th marks, SGPA. We were asked about our Software proficiency, our hobbies, strength & weaknesses, what do we have in us that will help us in the IT industry, what do we expect from Cognizant, etc. This form was attached with our answer sheet. The written test started at 11:00 am. It had 2 parts:

1. Analytical: 30 questions (30 mins). It contained Syllogisms, Data Interpretation, Data sufficiency, Coding-Decoding, Next Figure in the series, Puzzles. More or less it was the same kind as given in Freshersworld.com do R.S. Aggarwal (Logical) thoroughly. Questions were very easy, so don’t worry about the cut-off. Keep your cool and do as much as possible. It’s safe if you do more than 20.

2. English: 25 questions (30 mins). It had 2 passages (1 short, and another long). They were worth reading, because the questions were very simple and direct. Other questions were: Finding the correct and

incorrect sentences, finding the incorrect part of a sentence, arranging a group of sentences in an order so that they have a meaning. Overall it was an average English paper.

Be careful guys. Don’t let the invigilator have any misunderstanding about your fairness in the written paper. If they even suspect someone of cheating, they will cancel his/her paper and will not even let him/her know about it. In our college, 25 candidates were disqualified because of suspicion. So its better to stick your eyes to the paper and not even look anywhere during the 60 mins. You will not have a second chance, and nobody to complain.

At 2:00 pm our results were declared. 198 candidates cleared the written. there was 28 panels interviewing simultaneously. Each panel had 6 to 7 candidates for interview. Though my name was the second in the list in my panel, I was send first. The HR was a man in the late 30s or early 40s. I: May I come in Sir.HR: Yes come in.

I: Good Afternoon Sir.HR: Good Afternoon. Sit down. What is your name?

I: Arindam Banerjee Sir.

He was having my answer sheet and my form with him, and he searched it out from a bunch of forms. He was now seeing it thoroughly. Since he didnot ask my CV, I wondered whether I should give it to him myself. Before I could decide that, he asked me his next question: HR: Ok Mr. Banerjee, Tell me about yourself?I: Told. (Place of birth, Schools name, 10th and 12th Exam board, 10th and 12th %, B.Tech CGPA till now, hobbies, strengths, Role Model). I said my Father is my role model.

HR: What does your father do?I: Told.

HR: What does your mother do? Do you have any sibling? What does she do?I: Told.

HR: So you live in Burdwan?I: No Sir. I live in Birbhum.

HR: What is your stream? It is written CSE here. What is full form of CSE?I: Computer science & Engineering Sir.

HR: What are the subjects that you know?I: C and Data Structure.

HR: But you have written only C in this form. (In the Software Proficiency column).I: Actually Sir, the invigilator guided us to write only the languages we know. Since Data Structure is not a language, so.

HR: You should have written it. Write it now.He gave me the form, and I added data structure.

HR: You know any OS?I: Yes sir. Windows-XP and Linux (debian). HR: Add them to your form.

I: Told. HR: Why Cognizant?I: Told.

HR: Can you relocate anywhere?I: Yes Sir. (Told that I love travelling, and my father had a Transferable job, so).

HR: Ok Mr. Banerjee. That’s all. You may go now.I: Thank you Sir. (And I left). I had a feeling that my interview was disastrous. My Voice was shaking, and I am very weak in Technical.  My Spoken English is not good either.  At 7:00 pm Cognizant HR Manager made an announcement that 109 candidates have been selected. He said that CTS has created history in Kolaghat, because no company have ever recruited such a large number ever before. It was getting cold in the evening, and everybody was tensed. My name was called out, and I could not believe I got selected in spite of such a bad interview. Actually I was more than happy.

I would like to thank God, my Parents, my dear Sister, and all my dear friends.

My advice is keep yourself calm and try not to get tensed the whole day. We had an Infosys on campus the previous day, and I made a terrible mess of my Infosys aptitude paper by getting tensed in it. Don't do such things. Pray to God.

All the best, and Hope to see you all in CTS.
