Greetings Brothers!

I hope that every brother is in good spirits. Entering the Spring 2015 semester, the active chapter has 45 brothers. We will look to add new members through Rush early in the year. Our brothers strive to follow Pi Kappa Phi’s national vision; “Exceptional Leaders, Uncommon Opportunities”. The active brothers, as a whole, hold many leadership positions in both their academic and personal lives. We have brothers in many organizations such as the Tropolitan, Army and Air Force ROTC, and the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC). We also have a brother, Evan Ballard, who is the Assistant Defensive Line coach for the local Charles Henderson High School football team.

The Gamma Gamma Chapter – A Modern Fraternity

Since there has been an added emphasis on social media, Gamma Gamma has chosen to join the trend. You can now follow Troy Pi Kapps on Facebook and @TroyPiKapps on Twitter to stay in touch and stay up-to-date on news and events.

Commitment to Continued Growth

As a chapter, we are very happy with the thirteen new members and one alumni initiate that were initiated in the fall. We believe that they will be an asset to the fraternity for many years to come. This spring, we would like to continue with our growth by adding new, high quality members that aspire to be a part of our brotherhood. While Spring Rush typically does not have as many prospective members, we believe that we can still find quality members in this small group that will positively contribute to Pi Kappa Phi for the duration of their college experience.

January and we will continue to grow our fraternity from there.

Our Pledge to The Ability Experience

The Gamma Gamma chapter is very successful in raising money for the Ability Experience and 2014 was no different. This past year we raised over $7,000 and earned the Thomas Sayre Award for raising over $150 per man by raising $156.08 per active member. We look to continue this success in the spring. Spring is the time when we are able to raise the most money for The Ability Experience due to the vast amount of opportunities available. We will continue to have our Ability Experience Week where we raise money through means, such as, our annual 48 hour Bike-a-thon and our Ability Experience Carnival. This raises money while simultaneously giving our brothers an opportunity to form bonds with the local children in Troy. We could not have had this success without our alumni, so we would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” for your valuable contributions. Please continue to aid us in helping support The Ability Experience philanthropy.

Annual 2014 Pi Kappa Phi Young Gun’s Party

50 th Colonization Anniversary On September 27, 2014, we celebrated the 50th

anniversary of our chapter’s colonization. This event was held in the Trojan Center ballrooms and was used to celebrate the accomplishments of the founders of the Gamma Gamma chapter and the brothers that have kept the fraternity thriving over its history. As the first fraternity on Troy University’s campus, these men set out to be leaders and created a brotherhood that has grown over the years into a place where men can come together with the common goal of brotherhood. At this event, our brother and current chapter advisor, Larry Turrin, was named an honorary founder of the Gamma Gamma chapter by the colony members in attendance. Other honors bestowed on this evening were Brother of the Year (Christopher Brooks) and Mr. Gamma Gamma (Jonathan Brooks). We also named Alpha Gamma Delta sorority member, Caroline Clark, as our new Rose during the festivities.

The RoseOur Chapter honored the current Rose, Caroline Clark of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, with the Rose Song, roses, a jersey, and a plaque.

Brick/Paver FundTroy University has teamed up with the

Gamma Gamma Chapter to create a Brick/Paver Fund. These funds go directly to improvements to the current fraternity house. When a brick or paver is purchased, it will go on the front sidewalk so that the purchasing alumni can permanently leave his mark on the chapter. The cost of a paver is $150 and the brick is $100. Only $30 of this goes toward labor and cost while the other $120 or $70, respectively, goes directly towards the chapter’s house improvement funds. These donations are also tax deductible. Currently, this fund has raised $2,912.50 and is continuing to grow. Thank you for your past and future donations to the Pi Kappa Phi Brick/Paver Fund. If you would like to donate to this fund and help keep the active chapter growing please visit https://donate.troy.edu/fraternity-brick.

An Address to the BrotherhoodAs Gamma Gamma progresses and grows, we welcome

support from our Alumni Brothers. If you would like to be involved with the active chapter, feel free to contact Brad Calametti, Alumni Chapter President, through email at [email protected].
