WALT: Today we will be learning about the writing genre of procedural writing. Using the link below, watch the video to identify the main parts of procedural writing.

Task 1: Today we are going to look at bossy verbs. These are verbs that are also known as imperative verbs and they tell you what to do. Have a look at the poster below.

In your copy, write out the imperative verbs in each of these sentences.

1. First pour the milk into the bowl.

2. Bounce across the yard.

3. Hammer the nail into the wood.

4. Sort out all the 2D and 3D shapes into separate groups.

5. Wash your hands before eating.

6. Next, measure 250ml of milk and pour into the mixture.

7. Cut three equal slices of pizza.

8. Finally, order the items in numerical order.

9. Add flour to the eggs and milk in the bowl.

10. Fry the eggs in a non-stick pan.

Task 2: Open up Word Wise 3 on page 16. Complete Task A in your copy by writing out the instructions on how to make a drum. Keep your instructions short and simple.

1. Write bossy verbs at the start of your sentence in the present tense.

2. Write the instructions in order.

3. Keep the instructions short, simple and clear.

How to Wash Your Hands. You can do a rough draft of it first in your copy today. Keep this as you might be typing it into see-saw later in the week as a task.

Goal: (This will tell you what will be done. You could say why also- to prevent the spread of germs etc., good hygiene etc. )
