Agenda Item D: Executive Board & Senator Reports:
DISCUSSION President- Trina Larson Immigration guidance
o See attachment #1o The Academic Senate is proposing a resolution; concurrently the
District is working on language. As an institution, we want to be sure we’re not using language (like sanctuary) to overstate or misrepresent the support and protections we can provide students. The District and we are highly committed to doing everything we can to protect students. The District has hired an immigration attorney to support our efforts. They will be producing guidelines and distributing them to the campuses and to students.
o We want to identify potential vulnerabilities: i.e. Job Fair – Border Patrol or other policing agencies might
come to campus to recruit. This may make students feel unsafe or actually compromise their safety.
o Should we have a District hotline for guidance for students/faculty/staff?
