It will also show the limitations that solar panels have in delivering energy throughout the day. Troubleshooting: Make sure you connect the color of the lead to the same color on the multimeter, otherwise it will read a negative output.

1. Go to http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Solar-Panel-(Copper-Sheet-Method)2. Follow the instructions outlined to create a solar panel3. Look at the sample panels to get an idea of how to combine all of the cells into a panel4. Diagram what you believe to be the best way to arrange them to make the solar panel

the most efficient, and justify your diagram5. Follow the teacher’s direction to combine all of the solar cells to create a solar panel,

and measure electrical outputMaterials:

1. Alligator clips (2 per group)2. Clothes Pins (4 per group)3. Diagram paper4. Example solar panels (several sizes)5. Hot plate6. Multimeter7. Round container (approx 5” in diameter)8. Salt Water9. Sand paper10. Scissors11. Sheet of copper (2 per group)

Purpose: This project will help students understand how to maximize output from solar cells by altering their placement and arrangements in solar panels. It will also show the limitations that solar panels have in delivering energy throughout the day.Troubleshooting: Make sure you connect the color of the lead to the same color on the multimeter, otherwise it will read a negative output.
