Steam Punks!

Sunday, 10 March 2013 Sundays at 5.25pmCurious kids find themselves trapped in a bizarre subterranean world controlled by the megalomaniacal 'Machine' and her minion, 'The Inquisitor' (Paul Verhoeven - triple j), during Steam Punks, ABC3's new fast-paced, gooey, irreverent Australian kids game show (40 x 25 minutes).

To win their freedom, two teams of two 'Inquisitives' go head-to-head during each episode as their problem-solving skills, scientific knowledge and their ability to interact with technology are put to the test. The winning teams are deemed Steam Punks and transported back home. The losing teams become The Machine's minions and are stuck in the catacombs forever!

There are five rounds during each episode in which The Inquisitives battle it out:

The Quizatorium: The teams must answer multiple-choice science-based questions. There are picture clues and some answers include spectacular footage of crashes and explosions.

The Storeroom: There are five different storerooms that the teams encounter, with each storeroom testing one of the five senses. The unsuspecting Inquisitives will need a strong stomach as some of the concoctions created in The Storeroom can get pretty disgusting!

Bang, Crash, Splat, Splash: During this round the teams must predict the outcome of some jaw-dropping experiments conducted by Steam Punks graduate, Marvin. Be prepared to be amazed as Marvin uses giant water tanks and enormously powerful cannons. He even drops the occasional car from a great height just to hear how loud it sounds.

Feed the Furnace: During this fast, gooey and hilarious challenge one member from each team must hurl coal into the furnace while tied to bungee ropes. But to make the round harder for The Inquisitives, the opposing team sprays thick pungent goo at them. Prepare to laugh as The Inquisitives slip, slide and are flung backwards while being covered in goo!

Fast or Last: Finally the teams must compete in a quick answer round using hammers to bash their buzzers.

Who will earn their freedom and the right to call themselves Steam Punks, and who will stay in the catacombs forever?

Episode 4: Sunday, March 10 at 5.25pm on ABC3

It's the first day of The Machine's holiday so today's losing Inquisitives must rub special coconut-scented anti-rust sunscreen onto The Machine while singing songs about the South Pacific.

Playing for the red team are Kirsten and Amelia, and the blue team, Ryan and Brigitte. First up is The Quizatorium where they are tested on lightning, frogs and the science of airbags. Next their hearing is tested in Sound Room. During Bang, Crash, Splat, Splash The Inquisitives must guess how big the splash will be when a wheelbarrow is dropped into a tank of water from a great height. Hearts race during Feed The Furnace, but do the teams have lightning quick minds and reflexes for the final round - Fast or Last?

Young Dracula: Storm In A Blood Cup

During the fourth series of Young Dracula (13 x 28 minutes), we follow the next chapter in the life of Vlad (Gerran Howell), the son of Count Dracula (Keith-Lee Castle) and now the acknowledged Chosen One of the Vampire clans.

Balancing the pressures of growing up and being a teenager with the responsibilities of leadership are testing Vlad to the max. As a peace loving vampire he flies in the face of traditional Vampire thinking and convincing others, particularly the Slayers of his peaceful agenda is a full time job and that's without the Count hindering his every move.

But new bad boy, Malik (Richard Southgate), arrives in town. He initiates feelings of mistrust and intrigue in equal measure. Ultimately Vlad has to find out if he can trust Malik, or is he just one of many who will try to undermine Vlad's peaceful co-existence, steal his family and his girlfriend.

Episode three - Storm In A Blood Cup: Monday, March 11 at 6.30pm on ABC3

Adze arrives at Garside and much to Erin's chagrin, is beautiful. Vlad tries not to notice and becomes busy scheming on how he can get out of the arrangement.

However, Ramanga and Adze are plotting to get rid of the only person who might put a spoke in the wheel - Erin. A direct assault would be too provocative so they plan a smear campaign centring on Ryan.
